Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 3 : The ongoing Amarnath yatra was suspended today from the base camps of Jammu and Srinagar viz a viz Pahalgam and Baltal base camps due to heavy rush and landslides. An unprecedented rush of vehicles on Pathankot-Jammu-Srinagar National Highway forced the authorities to suspend the pilgrimage today. "Over 2,000 vehicles of unregistered pilgrims have been stopped at various places enroute Pathankot-Jammu-Srinagar highway as a measure to ease out the rush of the pilgrims, while over 30,000 pilgrims are camping in Jammu base camps," a senior police officer said. "The yatra was stopped from Jammu for second day today in view of heavy rush of pilgrims at the cave shrine and enroute from Baltal and Pahalgam routes…. No fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed today to move towards Amarnath from Jammu base camp," he added. The body, with head and face crushed beyond recognition, was first spotted by some passersby, according to police sources.
