| JSC Okays Bill to embargo inter-district recruitments | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 8: The Joint Select Committee of the both Houses of state legislature has approved, with amendments, the controversial and regressive Bill seeking to ban inter-district recruitment in government services.
The Bill, strongly opposed by the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other reserved categories was introduced in the legislative assembly earlier this year on February 28. However, following an across the board opposition, both within and outside the House, the Bill was referred to a Joint Select Committee, of both the Houses, under chairmanship of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Abdul Rahim Rather.
Titled AS ‘J&K Civil Services Decentralisation and Recruitment Bill, 2009’, the piece of legislation sought to ban recruitment of youths belonging to one district against the posts in another district. | 1,640 pilgrims leave for Amarnath shrine | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jul 8: A fresh batch of 1,640 pilgrims today left for Amarnath cave shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas, official spokesman said.
The pilgrims, comprising 985 men, 359 women, 44 children and 252 Sadhus, left for the Amarnath shrine in 37 buses, 11 light motor vehicles and two motorcycles from the Yatri Bhawan here, the spokesman added.
The two-month-long yatra started from shorter Baltal route on June 15, after one week's delay, while traditional Pahalgam-Chandanwari route was opened for pilgrims on June 26.

Bhopal, July 8: The All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Wednesday termed the Delhi High Court's verdict decriminalising homosexual acts among consenting adults as "illegal, irreligious and unnatural" for the society.
AIMPLB president Maulana Rabe Hasani Nadvi said that the court's decision was in favour of only a very samll gay community. Nadvi said the court decision should be "condemned" as it was "irreligious and unnatural" and added "we would not allow the western culture to be imposed upon the innocent Indian society."

New Delhi, July 8: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has said that a government employee cannot claim transfer to a place of his choice as a matter of right.
The bench, comprising Chairman V K Bali and Vice Chairman L K Joshi, passed the order on a plea filed by a 1994 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, challenging the Centre's direction to transfer him to Gujarat.
The Officer, Rajeev Kumar, working on deputation as an Additional Commissioner in the revenue department pleaded that like other colleagues, he should be given posting in Delhi.
