Govt data reveals how development was made alien to JK by past Netaas | Previous regimes only plunged JK into abject poverty | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: The figures coming to fore at present are only unmasking the tall claims of the previous regimes in Jammu and Kashmir that they left no stone unturned to address the development deficit here.
The facts and figures seem to be only bellying those tall claims. BPL estimated ratio of Jammu and Kashmir arrived at 21.63 percent which comprise of 24.21 lakh of which 26.14percent (22.00 lakh persons) are from rural areas and 7.96 percent (2.21 lakh persons) are living in urban areas, as per the government data.
It adds that the absolute poverty has shown an increase from 19.05 lakh rural, 1.86 lakh urban and 20.92 lakh combined in 1993-94 to 22 lakh, 2.21 lakh and 24.21 lakh respectively till in 2007-08.
Meanwhile, head count poverty ratio has shown a declining trend. As per the ES the poverty was 30.34 per cent Rural (R) 9.18 per cent Urban (U) and 25.17 per cent Combined (R+U) during 1993-94 to 26.14percent, 7.96 percent and 21.63 percent during the year 2007-08.

NEW DELHI, Sept 11: The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) on Wednesday wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah and Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda, recommending that Ladakh be declared a tribal area under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
The Sixth Schedule provides for the administration of tribal areas after setting up autonomous district and regional councils.

The students in Kashmir have not been able to go to schools. Although the government has made an effort by reopening of schools till middle class, still the parents showed reluctance to send their wards to schools due to prevailing situation.
At the same time, the government has asked students to submit examination forms for various examinations.

New delhi, Sept 11: Indian intelligence agencies recently cracked some code words being used by the Pakistan Army and various terrorist groups based there to communicate with militants in Jammu and Kashmir in order to create violence in the region, sources said.
