Jammu, Jan 9: Asking the top officers of state administration to make a New Year eve beginning from a new page, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today wanted to begin with a hundred-day agenda at first instance setting trend for transparent and efficient governance.
In his first ever interaction with administrative secretaries and other top officers of the administration, the Chief Minister said that he would fix the priorities and the administration has to implement these in a time-bound manner. Jammu, Jan 9: Five days after the swearing in ceremony, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his cabinet Ministers today took formal charge of affairs at their Civil Secretariat Chambers amidst and enthusiastic welcome by officers and staff.

New Delhi, Jan 9: The Government will issue an ordinance to create 12 new Central Universities, it was announced here on Friday.
"This is being done because the bill to create the universities could not be passed in parliament (in the session that concluded last month)," Home Minister P. Chidambaram said here on Friday.
He was briefing reporters after a Cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The new universities will be established in Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, Chidambaram said.

Jammu, Jan 9: One-way traffic was allowed for the second day on the 300-kilometer Srinagar-Jammu highway after it was thrown open following two-day closure due to heavy snowfall.
They said that traffic from Srinagar was allowed to move for Jammu while all no vehicle was allowed from the opposite direction.
The highway, only road link connecting valley to the rest world, remained closed for entire day Wednesday and better-half of Tuesday due to heavy snowfall at Patnitop and Jawahar tunnel.
