Jammu, Nov 29: Although J&K Police busted two back-to-back rackets involved in “selling” Rohingya women in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, trafficking of women from Myanmar and Bangladesh is going unabated despite crackdowns by police.
Sources said that the business of selling helpless Rohingya women is thriving because huge money involved in thse rackets.
Sources said that after being trafficked to Kashmir Valley from Bangladesh these women are often married rather than sold off to older men or those who are divorced or widowed.
There is a lot of money involved in these trafficking rackets. The network is big.
On average a woman is usually sold at Rs 2 lakh and the whole money is pocketed by the agents and kingpin.
“The kingpin usually earned Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh per woman so it is a very lucrative business for such agents”, sources said, adding, “Most of the women sold in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir are brought from Cox Bazaar in southeastern Bangladesh”.

New Delhi, Nov 29: ITBP Director General (DG) Anish Dayal Singh has been given the “additional charge” of CRPF after the retirement of incumbent S L Thaosen on November 30, an official order said Wednesday.
A Union home ministry order said Singh, an IPS officer of 1988-batch from Manipur cadre, will hold the CRPF DG charge “till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.” Thaosen, also from the 1988-batch of the IPS from Madhya Pradesh cadre, was appointed as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) DG in October last year.
