Early Times Report Jammu, March 5: Over past few years the University of Jammu has riding high on its claimed international standards of academics and infrastructure. However, the latest report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), for the same period when University was taking by storm its global connections and affiliations, says that the Campus has been a den of irregularities. The irregularities pointed out by the CAG are glaring and strange. Dubbed by many of its officers as ‘Oxford of South Asia’, took a contingent of students to China, at an expenditure of nearly Rs 9 lakhs, to sensitise them on journalists. The CAG is surprised at the fact that Jammu University does not have any department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Interestingly not even a single student (from any department) was on board China tour. Early Times Report Jammu, March 5: Government today decided to have fresh survey in Below Poverty Line (BPL) beneficiaries as the members disputes the incumbents. Even the Minister for consumer affairs and public distribution Taj Mohi-ud-din admitted discrepancies in the list that has been formulated. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution said that the government has decided to have a fresh state level survey to ascertain the correct beneficiaries of BPL. Early Times Report Jammu, March 5: Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly on Thursday unanimously elected People's Democratic Party (PDP) member Sartaj Madni as deputy speaker of the house. Soon after conclusion of the zero hour in the assembly, Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather moved a motion for election of deputy speaker in the house. PDP MLA Abdul Rehman Veeri seconded the motion. The Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone then told the house that motion was before the house for its passage. Later, the house unanimously passed it thus electing Madni as the deputy speaker of the house. The Speaker congratulated Madni for being elected as the deputy speaker. ...

MUNISH GUPTA Jammu, Mar 5: Former minister and member of the Legislative Assembly Harsh Dev Singh today alleged that the recent postings and transfers in the Jammu and Kashmir police department were politically motivated and reckless. The transfers were made only to accommodate blue-eyed for vested interests, Harsh said on the floor of the House while raising a question during the Zero Hour in the ongoing Assembly session here. New Delhi, March 05: At least 34 births and 10 deaths are registered in the country every minute, a census body on Thursday revealed. According to the Registrar General of India, a mind boggling 49,481 births and 14,475 deaths are registered in the country every day but the figure accounts for less than 70 per cent of the actual data. It also revealed that even though registration of births is an universal right of the child under a UN Convention, to which India is a signatory, the current level of birth registration is 68 per cent. Early Times Report Jammu, March 5: Police today arrested the person on the allegation of his involvement in making hoax bomb phone call at High Court.A team of SOG conducted a raid in the house of one Raj Kumar son of Nand Ram resident of Keran at present Digiana to arrest him but he made bid on life by self immolation.He was rushed to GMC hospital where doctors declare thirty percent burnt injuries.A couple of days ago the registrar of the High Court received a phone call in which some body informed him the presence of bomb in the High Court complex.He immediately phoned to the police who in turned took quick action and conducted search operation.
