| Challan produced against CAPD official | | | | JAMMU: The Kashmir wing of the state vigilance organisation (SVO) today produced challan against incharge tehsil officer, Shopian, of consumer affairs and public distribution (CAPD) department in an alleged corruption case.
The challan was produced in the court of special judge anti-corruption, Srinagar.
According to SVO sources, Mohammad Mansoor Malik was incharge tehsil officer, Zainapora circle of Shopian, when he had allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from CAPD fair price shop holder Sabzar Ahmad Dar for issuing reports in respect of various applications that had been endorsed to him by CAPD assistant director.

| | | | IED found near Doda, tragedy averted | | | | JAMMU: A possible tragedy was averted at Trungal near Assar in Doda this morning with the timely detection of an improvised explosive device (IED).
The IED, planted by militants in the roadside bushes, was discovered by a road opening party (ROP) of army at about 8.30 am, police sources said.
Soon thereafter, the movement of vehicles on the road was stopped and the area was cordoned off by the troops.
Sources said the IED was defused at about 11.30 am. Locals were questioned by police and troops, but none of them could provide any clue to the identity of the militant or militant sympathiser who had placed the IED in the bushes, the sources added.

JAMMU, Apr 20: The crime branch (CB) of the state police has booked two persons for their alleged act of fraudulently preparing registration papers of a land at RS Pura which belonged to a farmer.
Sources said farmer Gyan Chand of Phinder, RS Pura, lodged a complaint with CB, alleging that Kuldeep Kumar and Joginder Pal, both residents of ward No 8, RS Pura, had, in connivance with some revenue officials, prepared fake registration papers of his land in their name.
He said he was the real allottee of the land and Nirmal Singh of Simbal Morh was its attorney holder.
