srinagar, May 22: Leaders of so-called moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference today said in one voice that "freedom from India" was the writing on the wall in Kashmir and nobody could stop the Kashmiris from achieving their political goal. Much glorified Chairman of the conglomerate, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, said at a commemoration rally that United States of America (USA) was losing the battle against the Islamists in Afghanistan and India was meting the same fate in Jammu & Kashmir.
Bilal Gani Lone's faction of Peoples Conference, which is an executive council constituent of Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat Conference, had for the first time in the last nine years organized a public rally at Kralpora in Kupwara district to remember the PC's founder Abdul Gani Lone on occasion of his death anniversary today. Jammu, May 22: At a time when the NC led coalition government is looking forward to public opinions which can be incorportaed in the amendment draft of state Vigilance Act, renowned legal luminaries and retired bureaucrats of J&K have come forth with some concrete suggestions , the focus being on making the working of proposed Vigilance Commission more of 'management function rather than a punitive function. They underlined the need for such a Commission which is mandated and empowered to serve not only to monitor the working of VO but mainly as instrument of systemic changes in the functioning of the government to make it corruption free.

JAMMU, May 22: The government evoked massive appreciation by approving rules framed by the state High Court in April last year. However, the problems of prisoners still remain unaddressed as the state government delayed implementation of the rules.
Immediately after approving the rules, the Law Minister Ali Muhammad Sagar said: "The rules will go a long way in providing speedy justice in different nature of cases."

JAMMU, May 22: Two pilgrims today died of cardiac arrest on their way to the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi in Trikuta hills of Katra. Police sources said Chattar Singh (57) of New Delhi died of heart attack en route to the holy cave of Mata Vaishnodevi near Katra. Another devotee Bhanu Patel of Maharastra suffered heart attack near the bhavan and died.

JAMMU, May 22: A Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) leader was today arrested by police at Assote in Mahore, Reasi, in an alleged rape case. Police sources said Pushpinder Singh, who had unsuccessfully contested last assembly elections on JKNPP ticket from the area, allegedly raped a woman at Assote while she was on her way home.
After the woman brought the matter to the notice of her husband, the latter lodged a report with police against the Pushpinder.

SRINAGAR, May 22 : Notwithstanding repeated denials by the Army, security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have reported that nearly 35 to 40 terrorists have entered the Kashmir Valley but were holed up in higher reaches only due to extra layer of security by police and para-military forces.
