Rivalry continues to haunt Congress party | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, May 27: Twenty-four hours before the final round of much hyped Youth Congress election in Kishtwar, the rivalry between two factions one led by Ghulam Nabi Azad and the other by professor Saif-ud-Din Soz continued to haunt the Congress party.
The faction led by Azad has demanded immediate election posts.
The elections were postponed last week following allegations of irregularities in the voter list. The group has demanded inclusion of 580 members that were left out. The postponement of elections, however, evoked severe criticism from Soz loyalists.
The Azad loyalists also accuse the election commissioner of creating confusion by his order of postponement.

Jammu, May 27: A city Court has sought personal appearance of the Additional Secretary Jammu Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in a case of defamatory statement given to the press against an RTI activist. The court has directed the concerned SHO to ensure the presence of the accused in the Court on June 7, 2012.

JAMMU, May 27: Directorate of distance education (DDE), Jammu University, has come under severe criticism for its alleged act of diverting all the printing work to an Uttar Pradesh-based publisher -- Vikas Publishing House Pvt Ltd, Noida.
The work was earlier being done by Jammu printers. DDE gets printed syllabus and study material of various courses, files and ledgers every year.
Some local printers said everything moved smoothly till Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta took over as DDE director. He disengaged all the local printing units and diverted the entire work to Vikas publishing house, they added.

JAMMU, May 27: A young boy and a girl crossed over to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) from Keri sub-sector of Rajouri last night.
Official sources said Shoukat Hussain, son of Akbar Hussain of Mitti near Keri, was in love with a girl of his village.

Jammu, May 27: The dream of model villages has been marred by slow pace of work. On the physical side, there was a target of 12066 works to be executed under 16 different components in 12 model villages, against which only 9888 works were taken up consisting 82% of approved works. Out of the taken up works, 8979 works which constitute about 74% of the target were completed by the end of the 2008-09.
