Paying BSNL bills online
‘This facility is not available on JK Bank debit card’
5/28/2012 12:15:37 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, May 27: The BSNL gives a rebate of Rs 4 on every bill paid through the internet. However, the JK Bank debit card holders cannot avail this concession because the portal does not entertain their cards. The portal has a list of banks whose debit/credit cards are accepted and India's largest scheduled bank-Hamara Apna Bank (Our own bank) features nowhere in the list. Interestingly the JK Bank's global access card is accepted at all domestic as well as International MasterCard™, Maestro™, Cirrus™ enabled ATM's and point of sale locations. It is also accepted at National Financial Switch (NFS) ATM's. But the BSNL Portal is one of the places where it fails its `proud' owner. The card shocks its owner while purchasing a Jetlite (Airlines) ticket. A scribe was invited for a conference at Jammu in January. He tried his best to purchase the Jetlite online ticket but his debit card was not entertained. However, he succeeded in purchasing the same ticket by using the debit card of a newly launched lesser known bank. The banks that help their clients avoid lo...

Kashmiri leadership up in arms against interlocutors
Regional Councils
5/28/2012 12:13:12 AM
NEHA JAMMU, May 27: The New Delhi-appointed interlocutor's pro-separatist report has vaguely suggested that the creation of three Regional Councils, one each for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Believe it or not, but it is a fact that the pro-greater autonomy National Conference has repudiated outright the suggestion saying the creation of Regional Councils in the State would lead to the disintegration of the State. Reacting to the suggestion, senior NC leader and uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Mustafa Kamaal, on May 25 said the establishment of Regional Councils will "sow the seeds of disintegration of the State on religious lines" and asserted that "there has been no such demand from ...

Model Villages a shattered dream
5/28/2012 12:12:05 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, May 27: The dream of model villages has been marred by slow pace of work. On the physical side, there was a target of 12066 works to be executed under 16 different components in 12 model villages, against which only 9888 works were taken up consisting 82% of approved works. Out of the taken up works, 8979 works which constitute about 74% of the target were completed by the end of the 2008-09. To check the migration of rural population, improve quality of life, minimize rural- urban divide, the concept of model villages' scheme was conceptualized. The Prime Minister during his visit to the Jammu and Kashmir state in October 2004 announced Prime Minister’s rec...
