| Moral attack on pilgrims, physical attack on Gujjars | | Separatists, BJP must explain | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | July 1
Even though the secular majority of Jammu and Kashmir is trying to survive mindless efforts of the vested interests to create and prolong a communal clash in the state but few incidents have the potential of hurting communities.
An attempt by agitators in Kashmir to force a group of Amarnath pilgrims to perform "Pakistan Zindabad slogans" and the gory act of protestors to set on fire hutments of poor Gujjars in Samba district deserve condemnation.
A group of Amarnath pilgrims told EARLY TIMES here today that some protestors on the outskirts of Srinagar City forces them to recite Pakistan Zindabad. The group which was on way back home and had many wo...

Jammu | July 1
Seeing Jammu being caught in rising flames, the leaders of this region including the Congress veterans are apparently more busy in pleasing the separatist agitators in Kashmir Valley than dousing flames back home.
Ever since protests broke out in Jammu, no Minister or any sign of the political establishment has shown up face in City or other parts of region to quell the protests and diffuse tension. Leave aside visiting Jammu, the Minister cooling heels in Srinagar and probably seeing last minute official files anticipating fall of the government, did not even issue a statement or appeal asking the people to maintain calm.

Jammu | July 1
The Kashmiri separatists have added new dimensions to the ongoing row over the diversion of 800 kanals of forest land to the Shrine Board. Despite the fact that neiher the diversion deal has been signed nor the Board was going to utilise the land for raising prefabricated tents on a temporary basis the separatists have started voicing the demand for evicting the Army which had occupied vast chunks of land in the State for setting up their units, cantonments and residential complexes during the past 55 years. They possily do not want to know that the Army occupies 70 per cent of the area in Leh and Kargil districts which is followed by Poonch and Rajouri.Already th...
