JeM commander killed; man, two sons held for giving him refuge | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 5: A Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) divisional commander of Pakistan, who had taken refuge in a house at Thera Jatan Da in Bhattidhar area of Mendhar, Poonch, was this morning shot dead by police and army jawans in a brief encounter.
The house, in which the JeM commander was hiding, belonged to Abdul Khaliq, Poonch SSP Manmohan Singh said.
He said acting on a tip-off about the presence of JeM divisional commander Abu Waqas alias Umar Khatib in Khaliq's house, police and 37 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) jawans laid a cordon around it at about 7.30 am.
However, when the jawans asked him to surrender, he hurled a grenade towards them and made an attempt to flee. The jawans, who had already laid multiple ambushes on the possible escape routes, foiled his bid to escape and shot him dead in a brief exchange of fire, the SSP added.

Rajouri, Sept 5: Although Government of India had banned pre-paid mobile connections and the service restored after assurances from the all cellular companies about proper verification of numbers, SIM cards of Airtel cellular company are being used unabatedly by the militants in border district Poonch. This was confirmed today after killing of a militant in Bhati Dhar area.
Sources said militants are using SIM cards of cellular companies in border areas especially in Poonch for contacting local guides. JAMMU, Sept 5: In a petition in which NC MLA and higher education minister Abdul Ghani Malik was alleged to have exerted pressure on the authorities concerned to "withhold" the select list of national youth corps (NYC) volunteers for Mahore and Chasana blocks of Reasi, Justice J P Singh of the state high court has ordered Reasi deputy commissioner to allow them to join their duties.

murdered in Ansali nullah near the holy township here today. After the Katra police were informed by locals that a body was lying in Ansali nullah, cops rushed to the spot.
