Bashir Assad
Jammu, Jan 22: After August 27, 2010, it will be for the first time the State Government will make major changes at key levels of Police administration. If everything goes according to plans, the State Cabinet is all set to make major changes in the police administration and the preliminary exercise of finalizing the proposals of placing right choices at suitable places has almost been completed.
It merits a mention here that changes at the top positions in police administration were last made in August 2010 when Kashmir valley was in the middle of crises.
Now when the changes at the top level has become inevitable in the aftermath of elevating the incumbent Inspector Generals of Police for Kashmir and Jammu zones besides two other IGPs viz Sheikh Owais Ahmad and VK Singh, the exercise of finalizing the proposals has been completed. | Huge money being spent on stage managed protests, rallies | | Lust for Ministries ........? | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 22: Even as the newly inducted ministers have started work in the respective departments and ministries they have been allotted, the dropped and ignored lot continues to fret and fume, organizing protests by proxy and even stage managing resignations of 'people', clamour loaded with threatening of damage to parties etc. The drama has been going on for the last few days at many places, with only those at the hind scene who have suddenly lost their ministries or other key posts they retained for four years. The height and limit to this enactment of drama is the harsh fact that money is being spent like water for each and every act, a pressure tactic for Chie...

Majid Ahmad
srinagar, Jan 22: Despite Government rhetoric against corruption in Jammu and Kashmir, the facts belie its claims.
Here is an example: Despite several cases pending in the Vigilance Organization against Secretary Sports Council Dalip Thusoo presently, Government hesitates to take action for his attachment.
Sources said Thusoo was promoted as General Manager in Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) in 2004 on "fake recruitment rules" and in 2007 then R&B Minister GS Charak made a proposal for his further promotion as Executive Director (ED), without knowledge of the then Managing Director JKPCC M S Najar. "The proposal was never put up to the Board of D...

| | | | Shinde's statement has serious ramifications for JK | | Could mark beginning of end of VDCs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 22 : The Statement by union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde accusing BJP and RSS of running Hindu terrorist camps has major political ramifications in Jammu Kashmir, the worst sufferer of `Islamist terrorism.'
And, it's for this reason that response from the BJP and other Hindu organizations has been, on expected lines, quite strong, and they have decided to hold protest rallies across the State on Jan 24. In the two-decade of terrorism in the State, in which thousands of lives have been lost, Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir and Hindus from Doda, Rajouri and Poonch have been forced to migrate, not a single act of terrorism had been committed by the Hindus. | | | | Shinde's foot in mouth remarks cause for worry
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 22: Is it the case of putting his foot in his mouth when one talks about the most controversial statement the union Home Minister, S.K. Shinde, made during the Congress conclave in Jaipur the other day? Can Shinde's statement on saffron terror be treated as a major "political howler" of the year? Whatever Shinde has said has simply given a weapon to terrorists, especially those heading the Lashkar-e-Toiba, in Pakistan to strike a heavy blow on the four-year long campaign India had launched against Lashkar chief for having engineered the deadly terrorist strike in Mumbai in 2008 in which over 166 people were killed.
During all these years New Delhi had been ...
| | | | Pre-poll alliance between NC-Cong may not happen | | | | Jammu, Jan 22 : With the coalition partners showing interest in strengthening their respective bases, the dream of `grand 2014 alliance' seems distant.
This became evident when Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who is also the working president of National Conference installed his close aides on key positions in the party. After appointing Nasir Aslam Wani and Devender Singh Rana as provincial presidents of Kashmir and Jammu provinces, Omar conveyed in clear terms that party was his first priority. Omar did the overhauling after Congress leaders issued conflicting statements on pre-poll alliance.
Wani Tuesday urged the Kashmir based party leaders to stay back in valley and be available for pe...
