Hours before Taj was 'removed' on Jan 15, order put on backdate
Defaulter unit 'entertained' by PHE deptt with fresh order
1/24/2013 12:11:56 AM
ET Report Jammu, Jan 23: It could have happened only in PHE department when Taj Mohi-ud-Din was the Minister. Hours before his portfolio changed on January 15 reshuffle, the officials at the helm earned one more notoriety and dubious distinction of tampering with the orders and dates thereof, all to accommodate 'favorite' parties and accrue benefits in the deals. In what could be seen as last irregularity during 'Taj empire' , the PHE authorities changed the date of an procurement order from a private company and put it on backdate as having been released on 14-01-13 to accommodate a company which is a defaulter as per its past record of the procurement deals. Sources said the company from outside the State by name of "Tirupati Container Pvt Ltd Ghaziabad was obliged in 'swift course of actions' by the authorities who placed an order of supplies worth Rs 3.48 cr in its favour. Sources further said that what has raised many eyebrows among the other competitors and bidders is the fact that the said company has already been enlisted as defaulter as it has failed to provide ...

1/24/2013 12:11:36 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 23: National Conference (NC) general secretary's statement on plebiscite has been perceived as a preparation for the 2014 elections. Sheikh Nazir is known for his anti-India stand and the NC intends to make the best use of him especially in Kashmir where `separatism' still sells. Nazir has issued the statement at a time when the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference is flirting with Musharraf's four-point-formula. The formula revolves around, demilitarization, porus borders and joint control. All these things have been happening. A few CRPF bunkers have been removed from the city, several points have been opened along the LoC and the State is presently...

1/24/2013 12:12:16 AM

1/24/2013 12:11:22 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 23: A huge controversy has arisen because of the paid advertisement issued by the State Civil Defence authorities asking people to remain alert against nuclear and chemical weapons. A widespread scare had spread among the people who have been asking each other what else should be done to save themselves from nuclear and chemical weapons. Although the senior most officials of the department are now asserting that the advertisement was issued as a matte...

1/24/2013 12:10:42 AM
Avinash Azad Jammu, Jan 23: Despite an alarming increase in the head and spinal injuries during the frequent road mishaps, the Government has failed to equip the department of neuro surgery in the Government Medical College & Hospital where such patients are referred from across the State to enable it to meet the rising contingencies. While figures suggest that road mishaps claim 2 lives a day and leave 17 people injured everyday, it is shocking that there are only two neuro surgeons in the entire Jammu province to attend to critical head injuries. Sources disclose that these two neuro surgeons have not been provided with even basic infrastructure for such surgeries. "The functioning o...

Mughal road going Baglihar way; HCC takes Muftis, Abdullahs all for ride
1/24/2013 12:10:20 AM
Sayed Junaid Hashmi Jammu, Jan 23: Mughal Road is seemingly becoming another Baglihar of Jammu and Kashmir with State Government revising the completion date on yearly basis since the day construction began in the year 1969. Now the new date is March 2013. If the condition of the road is any indicator, this new deadline is merely to keep the public mind engaged. Despite being open for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), the road is in extremely bad condition and it is likely to take another two years for Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) to complete the work. And if lax attitude of Government is taken into account, HCC may not be able to fulfill this two year deadline. Along the 84-km Mugh...
