Gold, not politics, behind PDP leader's murder | Budgam Police cracks the mystery, mob torches houses of killers | | Ahmed Ali Fayyaz
SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Even as Budgam police has cracked the mystery of a PDP leader's murder within 48 hours and found that there was gold, not politics, behind the assassination, unruly crowds today staged protest demonstrations and torched the residential houses of the alleged and detained killers.
With a number of politicians, both from the opposition PDP and the ruling National Conference, condemning the murder of PDP's Vice President in Chadoura area, Police have solved the mystery of the death of 38-year-old goldsmith, Nazir Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Gaffar Dar R/o Badipora, Chadoura, within 48 hours. Associated with PDP, Dar had disappeared during the night intervening January 21st and 22nd and his dead body, buried under a culvert in the same area, was recovered in the morning on January 23rd.

JAMMU, Jan 24: The Supreme Court rap on the Army in the alleged fake encounter in Pathribal in Jammu and Kashmir prompted Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today to say that the need for partial revocation of the controversial AFSPA in the state has been brought back to focus.
Omar also regretted that justice has not been delivered even 12 years after the encounter in one of the travesties of justice system.

JAMMU, Jan 24: The government today ruled out grant of extension to retiring IAS officers. However, re-appointment of `favourities' was justified by playing with words.
Reports said that 22 IAS officers are retiring in the coming months which may have a serious bearing on the administrative setup of the state. JAMMU, Jan 24: A massive protest was held at Ramgarh in Vijaypur, Samba, near here after the young housewife, who was allegedly burnt by her husband on January 19 last, succumbed to her injuries at the GMCH today.
Srishta of Ramloo, Ramgarh, was married to Surinder Singh of Jarh, Barkatpura, on May 11 last year.
Since Surinder worked with a railway company at Reasi, he took his wife along with him and the couple started living there in a rented room, police sources said.
