Pak Desperate to Infiltrate Militants Into J&K: PC

Early Times Report SRINAGAR | OCT 14, 2009 India today said there has been a desperate attempt by Pakistan to infiltrate militants into Jammu and Kashmir to foment violence. "After the Parliamentary elections, there has been spurt in infiltration, a desperation. One can see a desperation on the part of Pakistan and PoK authorities to infiltrate into India," Home Minister P Chidambaram said at a press conference replying to questions on infiltration. The Home Minister said infiltration from Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir was "solely" responsible for violence in the state and it was difficult to completely control it. "Infiltration is taking place. I must admit that we have not been able to completely stop it although infiltration has come down. Thanks to the vigil of our security forces," he said. Security forces were doing "better and better" to contain the influx of terrorists into the country though groups across the border were recruiting young men and brainwashing them to pursue Jehad and create mayhem in India. Sumit Sharma Jammu,October 14 Mean while Bakshi Nagar police have lodged FIR against six persons involved in manhandling with DC Jammu MK Devidi and Additional Commissioner General Jammu,Rohit Khajuria. The manhandling incident occurred when on 9 October both top job officers visited to Rajneesh’s residence to offer condolence. As per sources FIR 174/09 under section 147, 148 and 353 RPC, has been lodged against six persons involved in manhandling and is ready to launch manhunt to arrest the culprits. Pre-paid mobile may be banned for a while in Kashmir: PC

Early Times Report SRINAGAR: In what could be bad news for nearly 38 lakh pre-paid mobile phone subscribers in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre today said it may ban this service due to security reasons. The announcement came from Union Home Minister P Chidambaram while replying to a query from an outstation journalist who is here in connection with the All India Editors' Conference organised by Press Information Bureau. The move comes after several incidents were reported by security forces in which militants had used pre-paid mobiles purchased under fictitious names for communicating with one another. New Delhi: Slamming China for objecting to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Arunachal Pradesh, the IAF Wednesday said it does not "fear" the Chinese military and that the neighbour should not have any problem with it upgrading airstrips in the North-East. IAF vice chief Air Marshal P K Barbora said when India does not object to China's military activities in Tibet, the latter too "should have nothing" against Indians developing their military capabilities in the North-East. Mohammad Akil, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Border Security Force led the 11-member Indian team, while Brigadier Shifakat Ali Khan-headed the Pakistan Rangers' team at the meeting. Beijing: Chinese premier Wen Jiabao indicated on Wednesday he wanted to discuss Sino-Indian differences with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Wen inquired from Murli Deora, the minister for petroleum & natural gas, if Singh will attend the meeting of the Association of South Eastern Nations in Thailand on October 23-25. Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 14 India has made it clear to China it will only issue employment visas to its highly skilled workers and that it has decided against giving business visas, Home Minister P Chidambaram said on Wednesday. "Chinese workers can come to India only on employment visa, no more on business visas," he told a press conference here. "We are going to issue employment visas only to highly skilled workers and it do not apply only to Chinese workers but to other countries as well.
