JAMMU, Oct 31:
• 16 candidates including one female in list of 43 are from Kashmir Valley
• ‘Agitation martyr’ Kuldeep’s wife Shilpi Verma fielded from Bishnah
Finally, the Bhartiya Janta Party has taken lid off the list of its nominees for almost key seats for Jammu (and Kashmir) but the battle ahead is not quite easy as choice of candidates has left many potential aspirants in fits of rage.
A meeting of the Central Election Committee of BJP held under the chairmanship of party president Rajnath Singh and attended among others by LK Advani approved names of candidates for 43 constituencies. This also includes 16 seats from Kashmir Valley where party is contesting mostly first time.
Names have been declared for all seats of Jammu district but no decision has been announced for the neighbouring Samba constituency. The party also appeared to be hit by crises in Kathua district where one candidate has been given ticket for two constituencies while no candidate has been chosen for Hiranagar constituency which BJP had won in 1996.

JAMMU, Oct 31: A formal announcement of their nominees still awaited the tacit go ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party and the National Conference to their nominees has put Rajouri district in an aggressive poll campaign mode. The uncertainty caused by the Congress in declaring its challengers is still a cause of anxiety among the aspirants as well as cadres.
Peoples Democratic Party is the first time potential player in the district as in 2002 its participation was mere ceremonial due to lack of any organized network of cadres. This time party is in a straight contest in at least one constituency and a significant competitor in two other.

The Government has decided to pay heavily all those performing election duties. Not only this, a descent amount has also been fixed should there be any fatal eventuality or sustenance of grievous injuries.

JAMMU, Oct 31: Past few months witnessed one global and another local phenomenon which had adverse effects on the money market but Jammu and Kashmir Bank is not allowing anything to come its way of growth.
Despite the global meltdown and prolonged agitation in Jammu and Kashmir which halted almost all business activities, the J&K Bank has posted a net profit of Rs. 210.48 crore for the half year ended September 30 registering an increase of 10.18%. On quarterly basis, the second quarter of the current fiscal witnessed a jump in net profit to Rs 115.92 crore from Rs.107.80 Crore compared with a year a go period.
