Want person with clean image as JK unit president | New BJP legislators oppose 'tainted' Khajuria | | Arun Singh
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 27: Amid speculations that Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) would shuffle its Jammu and Kashmir unit, former MLA Ashok Khajuria, who is in the race for party president, is facing stiff opposition from the newly elected BJP legislators.
Sources told Early Times that Khajuria is trying hard to get the post of the state president as the BJP is likely to form the next government in the state.
He (Khajuria) may lose the race as his "dubious role" during the past six years and the outgoing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah alleging that he (Khajuria) used to approach him for seeking personal favours has put his credibility at stake.
The newly elected BJP legislators, who won 25 seats in the recent assembly polls and helped party to emerge as second largest party for the first time in the history of JK, are of the opinion that "tainted" Khajuria should be dropped and someone with a clean image be handed over the reins of the party in the state.
The allegations against him (Khajuria) of taking benefits from governments are not new. Even Omar Abdullah,... | |

ET Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 27: People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) have taken small but 'meaningful' steps for the formation of next government in the state. Both the parties have almost decided to give up their stand on issues that can block the alliance in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources told Early Times that while PDP has been asked not to stress on the Self Rule, BJP has been told in categorical terms that their leaders should not rake up the issue of abrogation of Article 370 from the state. This has been done to ensure that the likely alliance runs for six years and there are no hiccups whatsoever.
