| Cabinet expansion: Aspirants to pass through LS test | | | |

Jammu, March 8: Even after two months in the office, there are no imminent signs of expansions of Omar Abdullah ministry as coalition partners intend to make maximum of their legislators in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Two days before taking oath of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had said, “first ten days of Muharram are seen inauspicious therefore, I and some members will take oath on January 5 and expansion will take place shortly afterwards”. He had also laid emphasis on another reason: The Prime Minister is chairing a meeting of Chief Ministers on internal security on January 6 and therefore I will take charge a day ahead because a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir must take part in this important meeting”.
Omar Abdullah’s these two statements indicated that expansion of his cabinet could be anytime in the middle of January. However, when ten Ministers (including CM) instead of six, as it was expected earlier took oath, it reflected that the ministry expansion may take time.

New Delhi, March 08: Women constitute just 7.52 per cent of the central government work force, revealed T.K.A. Nair, the principal secretary to the Prime Minister, on Sunday.
"The percentage of women working in the central government is 7.53 per cent, of which 24 percent are in All India Civil Services, 18.5 per cent in the Indian Police Service and 18 percent in the Indian Foreign Service, Mr. Nair said.
Mr. Nair was speaking on the launch of the special International Women's Day issue of Bureacracy Today magazine here.

Jammu, March 8: A prominent Islamic body has issued a decree asking Muslims to exercise their franchise but said one should not vote for a party or leader just on the basis of religion.
"The vote should not be kept back," leading Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband said in a fatwa in response to a question whether Muslims should vote in the elections.
"One should vote for the party and the leader that is better and works in favour of Muslims and the country," the fatwa said, adding "India is a democratic and secular country. Hence it is out of place to look at its politics in Islamic perspective and test the parties and political leaders on Islamic principles."
