Srinagar, Apr 15: Misappropriation of funds released under Catchment Area Treatment (CAT) at various HE projects by the Forest Department which was the implementing agency was reported earlier by the Early Times, however, the latest information shows that the amount misappropriated by the department runs in hundreds of crores and Nimmo Bazgo is the latest entry to the list.
So for out of 255.46 Lacs released towards CAT plan by NHPC at Nimmo Bazgo Hydroelectric Power Project , the department of Forests and Soil Conservation have furnished utilization certificate to the Corporation for only 155.65 Lacs. The twin departments have misappropriated Rs. 100 lacs under CAT. However, the utilization certificate furnished by the government for 155.65 lacs is strongly contested by the departmental sources which claim the CAT plan has not seen light of the day as yet at the project site.

Jammu, Apr 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commented on Shah Rukh Khan's detention at a US airport on his twitter asserting that one must either travel at the terms of the country he/she is visiting or not travel at all.
Commenting on the media hype that SRK's detention by US authorities received recently, Omar Abdullah disclosed that he had been detained for 2 hours at a US airport when he went there on a diplomatic passport.
By international convention the diplomatic passports are treated as hassle free travel documents and most of the formalities which are followed in respect of other types of passports are relaxed for persons travelling on diplomatic passports.

Jammu, Apr 15: The list of President's Medal awar-dees has shocked the people of the state. It has several tainted police officials in it. According to state home department sources as many as 241 criminal cases have been registered against the awardees during the past two decades.

Jammu, Apr 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah could have a tough day tomorrow in convincing Prime Minister to revoke AFSPA from some parts of the state, a demand which he has been raising consistently.
Omar Abdullah by all expectations would raise this issue at the meeting of Chief Minster's on internal security called and to be chaired by Prime minister.
