The top bosses at the University of Jammu are bogged down ‘mysterious disappearance’ of an expensive equipment from the department of Chemistry which has been taken away by its own men to an institution which looks like but is not a part of the University.
The Indian Association of Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists is headquartered in Jammu, its building has come on the Jammu University land but is in now way a department or part of the University of Jammu. Its relation with the Jammu University is more or less the same as in case of Indian Institute of Public Administration which has an academic collaboration with the JU and its building has come up on the University land.
Sources said that on the late evening of May 9, an expensive X-Ray Diffractometer went missing from the University of Jammu and later it was spotted at the building of Indian Association of Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists (ISCAS) which has come on the backside of the University campus.

| Cease-fire breach: India lodges formal complaint with Pakistan | | | | New Delhi | May 15
Indian commander staged an urgent flag meeting with his Pakistani counterpart to formally complain about the breach of ceasefire on Wednesday evening at around 6 pm at the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan commander however, denied any such violations of truce.
The ceasefire with Pakistan has been in force since 2003 and it was the first major violation of five-year old truce since then.
The director general of military operations (DGMO) Lt. Gen. A.S. Sekhon discussed the border situation on the hotline with his Pakistani counterpart Major General A S Pasha at 3 pm, said an Indian Army officer.

To prevent tampering of barbed wire fence by well trained Pakistani infiltrators security experts are weighing pros and cons of introducing ‘electrified’ border fence on the international border and the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
The nine feet tall barbed fencing once electrified could further help the security forces in checking infiltration from across the border and the line of control. Besides strengthening the security grid and round the clock patrolling in the border belts where fencing could not be carried out on account of nallahas and rivulets.

Close on the heels of the Samba encounter between security forces and infiltrators, there are fears in the defence establishments here that there may be more infiltration bids from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in a bid to sabotage the Amarnath yatra and the Assembly elections scheduled later this year.
An estimated 1,600 militants, heavily armed and highly trained in jungle and sabotage warfare, were being hosted in over 30 launching pads and 25 militant training camps in Pakistan and PoK areas to enter into J and K this summer for "border engagements" on the pattern of Samba, defence sources said here.

For a change, it was a turn of the boys to dominate the merit list of Science and Commerce faculties while the girls maintained supremacy in Arts stream in the higher secondary part-II examinations, the results of which were declared tonight by the State Board of School Education.
The government run educational institutions dominated top slots in Arts and Science faculties. Of 13 positions in Arts, the Government schools bagged 10 while out of 10 positions in Science, they clinched four positions.
