Draining out JU…equipment goes missing
Chemistry deptt’s machine transported to ISCAS which is not part of Varsity
5/15/2008 11:57:42 PM
Munish Gupta Jammu | May 15 The top bosses at the University of Jammu are bogged down ‘mysterious disappearance’ of an expensive equipment from the department of Chemistry which has been taken away by its own men to an institution which looks like but is not a part of the University. The Indian Association of Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists is headquartered in Jammu, its building has come on the Jammu University land but is in now way a department or part of the University of Jammu. Its relation with the Jammu University is more or less the same as in case of Indian Institute of Public Administration which has an academic collaboration with the JU and its building has come up on the University land. Sources said that on the late evening of May 9, an expensive X-Ray Diffractometer went missing from the University of Jammu and later it was spotted at the building of Indian Association of Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists (ISCAS) which has come on the backside of the University campus. Interestingly, it was an inside job. This time the command was led by Pr...

5/15/2008 11:55:43 PM
Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 15 To prevent tampering of barbed wire fence by well trained Pakistani infiltrators security experts are weighing pros and cons of introducing ‘electrified’ border fence on the international border and the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. The nine feet tall barbed fencing once electrified could further help the security forces in checking infiltration from across the border and the line of control. Besides strengthening the security grid and round the clock patrolling in the border belts where fencing could not be carried out on account of nallahas and rivulets. They said at present the border fence was being snapped by cutters, as was the case in Samba where...

More infiltration bids feared
5/15/2008 11:55:14 PM
Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 15 Close on the heels of the Samba encounter between security forces and infiltrators, there are fears in the defence establishments here that there may be more infiltration bids from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in a bid to sabotage the Amarnath yatra and the Assembly elections scheduled later this year.
