Soaring prices and a sustained strike by vendors have almost take vegetable and salads off the menu of Jammuites even as authorities continue to sleep over things.
Jammuites have a peculiar eating habit which involves mostly pulses and vegetables, they are also found of salads. However, vegetables are either not available at the ends or they bring home the stale leaves with no fresh arrivals.
Not to speak of the households, even the hotels and restaurants are taking the vegetables off the menu as fresh stocks are not available in the market due to a strike of vegetable traders since last five days.

Doling out massive favors on the lower rung of civil administration, the government today ordered wholesale promotions, mostly in the Rural Development Department.
Even though an order issued by the government did not actually pertain to promotions as it was about transfers but 13 of the total 15 officers who were transferred were posted to the next higher rank in their own pay and grades. This is one of the several dozen orders issued in past few months where officers are posted to new positions by carrying out promotions in their own grades.
