Senior Congress leader and Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma has been denying what now has become a full blown controversy and a major embarrassment for his party but thing don’t end here.
The central leadership of the party is deeply annoyed with him and he has been slapped with a show cause notice to explain position within a week. Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had already taken his hand off head of Madan Lal and today it was turn of PCC Chief and Union Water Resources Minister Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz who said that the erring MP will have to face disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that allegations by Madan Lal were false and that action would be taken against him. "Making false accusations is unacceptable; it is against the justice system and amounts to questioning the integrity of judges. Action will definitely be taken against the MP for making a false statement," Azad told a private TV news channel in Srinagar today.

Taking strong exception to the government’s prolonged silence on a clear cut recommendation made by the Commissioner of Vigilance, the State Accountability Commission today recommended termination of the services of an officer who happened to by daughter of a former Minister.
Sofia Tabassum was appointed as Divisional Publicity Officer, a gazetted cadre post, in the Integrated Watershed Development Project in November 2007. Incidentally, Tabassum happened to be the daughter of then Forest Minister Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan. The IWDP, it may be mentioned here, is run by the Forest department.

Past few weeks have seen a global debate on the availability of food and the issue attracted more attention after US President George Bush blamed India for scarcity –however, little is known about the position in Jammu and Kashmir which in now way is sufficient in food production.
Despite being a state of agrarian economy, Jammu and Kashmir has never been able to obtain the complete self sufficiency in food production. The death toll from a powerful weekend cyclone that battered Myanmar rose above 22,000 with 41,000 still missing on Tuesday, state radio reported, as the international community prepared to rush in aid.
Government-run radio said 22,464 people have been confirmed dead from Cyclone Nargis, which tore through the country's rice bowl and biggest city of Yangon early Saturday. It said more than 41,000 were still missing, raising fears the death toll would soar.
Relief efforts for the stricken area, mostly in the low-lying Irrawaddy River delta, have been hampered by the destruction of roads and communications.

Member Parliament from Uttar Pradesh, Chander Prasad (Samajwadi Party) lost his cash, gold ornaments, mobile phone and even clothes he was carrying with him in a brief case when he was sleeping along with his family members in a local hotel at BC road here today.
According to reports, some thieves barged into the room of the hotel he was staying in and decamped with everything, the MP and his family members were carrying only leaving behind the clothes they were wearing while asleep.
