Jammu, Jan 22: The annual financial budget for the year 2010-11 is likely to be presented before the Legislative Assembly here on March 12. Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather has already kicked off the pre-budget consultations with key stakeholders and the individual departments have already started submitting their proposals to the Finance Ministry.
Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone today issued the provisional calendar for the sittings of the third session of the 11th Legislative Assembly. The session will start on February 22, 2010 and conclude on April 5, 2010.
As per the provisional calendar, the Governor will address the joint session of the two Houses, on Monday, the February 22, 2010. The House will have discussions on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address on February 23, 24 and 25 which will include reply thereto on February 25, 2010.

JAMMU, Jan 22: Troops were today put on high alert and multiple ambushes were laid along the International Border (IB) in R S Pura sector near here after realigned new fencing was found cut at Abdullian.
The first reaction was panicky as apprehensions were that infiltrators might have succeeded in sneaking into the Indian territory to disrupt Republic Day celebrations in the state's winter capital city, police sources said.
As the word spread, BSF troops in R S Pura sector were alerted. Sources said ambushes were then laid in R S Pura fields and on all the roads leading to the town.

New Delhi, Jan 22: Lt General V K Singh, the Eastern Army Commander and senior-most infantry officer, was today named as the next Army chief and will take over his new post after incumbent Gen Deepak Kapoor retires on March 31.
