'Security breach' ahead of R-Day at Srinagar Airport | Questions raised over separatist leader's protocol at VIP Lounge | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 22: Increased vigil ahead of Republic Day at the country's most sensitive Srinagar Airport has brought into question Jammu & Kashmir government's "undeclared protocol" to Chairman of the separatist Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Alongwith two female members of his family, Police led the separatist leader to the VIP Lounge and reportedly served the trio coffee when Mirwaiz checked in on Friday afternoon to catch a Delhi-bound Go Air flight.
On way to London for participation in an international conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was captured by CCTVs while entering the VIP Lounge at Srinagar Airport on Friday afternoon twice. He remained seated alongwith two co-passengers, believed to be his family members. Mirwaiz is a Z-plus protected political leader but not entitled to remain seated and other protocol at the VIP lounges of Indian airports. JAMMU, Jan 22: Amid shock and utter disbelief, the people in down town Srinagar also called ‘Chota Pakistan’ (Small Pakistan) saw hundreds of Bharataya Janata Party (BJP) posters and Saffron flags. The ‘daring’ act was undertaken during the preceding night, reports said.

srinagar, Jan 22: Two persons have been arrested and fake Indian currency with face value of Rs 7,500 has been recovered form them in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, police said today.
Mushtaq Ahmad Mir and Khursheed Ahmad War, both residents of Kupwara district, were arrested last evening and counterfeit Indian notes with face value of Rs 7,500 recovered from them, a police spokesman said.
The arrests were made following questioning of another accused, Ghulam Mohammad Mir, from whom fake currency with face value of Rs 42,000 was recovered last week, he said.
The spokesman said more arrests are expected in the coming days in connection with the case.
