In wake of severe cold conditions prevailing in the entire region for the past over one week, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had ordered closure of Government and private schools from January 7th till January 12th. Ironically, number of private schools, notwithstanding the Chief Minister's order directed the students to continue with their respective classes. Sources revealed that "though the school students from Class I to Class V have been excluded from attending the routine classes but the students of Class VI till Class X have been asked to attend the classes from 9.30 am onwards." "Furthermore, in an attempt to dodge the officials of Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers, the respective school managements have further instructed the students not come in school uniforms as the same will get identified," sources further confirmed to Early Times. NC turns pro-Army with a motive?
Revocation of AFSPA
1/9/2013 1:16:27 AM
Rustam Jammu, Jan 8: The National Conference (NC), which had during the past four years hardly spoken a word in favour of the Army involved in anti-insurgency operations, yesterday spoke in its favour. The NC leaders like the Chief Minister's uncle and party additional general secretary and one of its Lok Sabha MPs had umpteen times criticized the Army and accused it of violating "human rights" of the people of Kashmir. The NC additional general secretary had even gone to the extent of accusing the Army of causing blasts in different parts of the Valley to create an impression that the situation there was abnormal so that it could defeat those demanding withdrawal of or amendment in the Ar...

Congress-NC face to face with each other
PRC to WP refugees
1/9/2013 1:16:11 AM
Neha Jammu, Jan 8: The Congress and the NC, two coalition partners, it appears, are again in a confrontation mode. The issue which has brought the Congress and the NC face to face with each other is the age-old demand of the refugees from West Pakistan (all-non-Muslims) and the seemingly positive attitude of the Congress towards their demand seeking citizenship rights which are available to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, called permanent residents of the State. The immediate cause which has provoked the NC to counter the Congress was the January 6 Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Raman Bhalla's statement that the "State Government will bring necessary amendment in the Constit...
