LeT attempt to sneak into city foiled; 3 ultras killed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Nov 29: Thwarting an attempt by militants of Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba to enter into Srinagar city, a brave constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police laid down his life but only after gunning down three ultras including a foreigner in outskirts of the city.
Giving details of the encounter, the second major in just over a month, police said three LeT terrorists were riding a motorcycle and attempting to enter the city ostensibly for killing policemen.
The militants were challenged by a team of policemen at Qamarwari check post and in the ensuing encounter constable Shabir Ahmed lost his life but only after killing the three motorcycle-borne terrorists, police officials said.
The militants were part of the LeT team holed in Pattan area of North Kashmir and attempting to sneak into the city for killing policemen standing on duty on roads and various intersections. This modus operandi has been used by LeT earlier as well.
A civilian Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, who was also injured in the crossfire, has been hospitalised.

JAMMU, Nov 29: A Delhi court today handed over the custody of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Abdulla Inquilbi from Pakistan to the Jammu & Kashmir police as he was wanted in a case relating to the killing of 15 persons . Chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav allowed an application filed by Jammu & Kashmir police officer SD Singh seeking transit remand of Abdullah Inquilabi for his production in a sessions court in Rajouri district. The court granted three-day transit remand of the accused. JAMMU, Nov 29: A Pak-trained Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant today surrendered before 27 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Jamia Gali in Mandi area of Poonch.
Police sources identified him as Abdul Majid Sheikh (32) of Chadoora, Baramullah.
He had exfiltrated to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September 2006 and attended a militant training camp for 15 days.
After receiving training in the handling of arms and ammunition, he stayed in PoK for three years and infiltrated into Kashmir in August 2009. Since then, he was putting up in Srinagar, the sources added. He came to Jamia Gali today after trekking a mountain and surrendered before the troops of 27 RR.

JAMMU, Nov 29: In a goodwill gesture, army today repatriated a Pak youth who had inadvertently crossed over to India from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch.
Faisal Mehboob (19) was handed over to the Pakistani army in a humanitarian gesture by Indian army officials at 11.30 am at Mendhar-Tattapani crossing point along the LoC in Poonch, official sources said.
