Jammu-Poonch LS seat remains unrepresented in Union Council of Ministers again
5/28/2014 12:20:03 AM
Avinash Azad JAMMU, May 27: While induction of Dr. Jitendra Singh, MP from Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary seat in NaMo's Council of Ministers has sent jubilation across Jammu region, the fate of Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency remained unchanged as its incumbent like the predecessors failed to secure a Ministerial berth in the Union Council of Ministers. After thirteen contests, the biggest constituency of the state which comprises as many as 20 Assembly 13 MPs have represented the LS seat in Indian Parliament since it came into existence in 1967. Eight MPs from Indian National Congress, three MPs from BJP and each one from National Conference and Independent Candidate have represented the seat, but the constituency could not manage a birth in union Cabinet. "After the results of 15th Lok Sabha elections, the voters from Jammu-Poonch constituency were confident that their representative would be inducted as Minister in Namo's Cabinet", said a BJP leader, wishing secrecy. "Like outgoing UPA-2 which had inducted two Ministers from J&K, it was expected that Jugal Kishore Sharma...

5/28/2014 12:18:34 AM
Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, May 27: Despite Government claiming of austerity being in place, lavish could be termed the life which ex-Chairman of Legislative Council and Congress leader Arvinder Singh Mickey lived while officiating as Deputy Chairman of the Upper House. Burgeoning task, may take months, say officials
5/28/2014 12:18:14 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, May 27: In what can be seen as the decision with regard to scrapping of new recruitment policy meeting a similar fate of announcements made by the NC led coalition Government in the past, many of which remained in limbo for a long time, nothing has moved beyond the formal announcement followed by Cabinet nod to it last week. Even as all the departments have been asked to look into financial implications of reversing the New Recruitment Policy besides getting data of number of people appointed under this policy during the last three years, no significant movement has taken place at any level nor is this 'huge task' expected to be worked out soon. PDP a force to reckon with in Kashmir
Wrong to say NC got 11% votes
5/27/2014 11:15:11 PM
Rustam JAMMU, May 27: If one looks superficially at the statistics released by the election authorities concerning the vote-share of the various political parties in the state, then one would say that the Kashmir's premier political organization National Conference (NC), which is at the helm of affairs, got 11.1 per cent of the total votes polled in the Kashmir Valley in the just-held Lok Sabha. But did it really get 11 per cent of the popular votes polled? The answer is a big NO. No because these votes also included the Congress votes. All the three NC candidates - Farooq Abdullah, Mehboob Beg and Sharif-ud-Din Shariq - who sought reelection from the Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla L...
