With the political crisis deepening in the state, the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar is fast becoming the focal point to decide the next course of action.
The government led by the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has been reduced to minority by pulling out of PDP but it has not fallen in technical terms. Under the constitutional provisions it is now for the Governor whether to allow a minority government or impose his rule in the state.
Constitutional experts said that the options were very limited. Either there ...

Deeply regretting the action of Peoples Democratic Party and describing it as politically motivated move, the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad claimed late this evening that his government will last full term.
Speaking to a television channel after PDP decision to pull out from the government, the Chief Minister said that his priority has always remained development and now it was for the people to decide who cares for them. “Now it is over to the people to identify who suits best to them”, said an optimistic Chief Minister.
He said, “I have been Chief Minister here for close to three years and during all this period I never talked about politics an...

Jammu | June 28
With the Peoples Democratic Party withdrawing support from the coalition government, the Congress sought to counsel its erstwhile ally that running away from a problem will not bring credit to any political party.
"Running away from a problem will not resolve it and will not bring credit to any political party including the PDP," AICC Media Cell Chairman M Veerappa Moily told reporters in New Delhi.
"At the fag end of the term, they should not have withdrawn from the government. The decision on the shrine board was a government decision, a collective decision," he said, adding that withdrawal of support does not augur well for both the parties.

Jammu | June 28
Hours after Jammu and Kashmir pulling into crisis with withdrawal support by the Peoples Democratic Party the situation was nowhere close to normal in Kashmir Valley as agitated protestors demanded nothing short of withdrawal of land from the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.
An observer watching the Kashmir situation pointed out that PDP’s pulling out from the government is no way going to influence the agitation or soothe the public anger. Even fall of the government will not help resolve the situation where no solution is being sought except for cancellation of the land transfer order.
Meanwhile the Governor NN Vohra is actively engaged in parleys to ...

"Nub Thavon Taapas, zameen hemoas vaapas"(keep Ghulam Nabi Azad in the sun to get back the land). Those in the valley who have coined this slogan speaks volumes of the craft of Kashmiris in rhyming their slogans which paint a political leader in satire. This is how "Taapas"(sunshine) has been rhymed with "Vaapas"(restoration). It may be a satire used for explaining the role the Chief Minister played in diverting the 800 Kanals of land to the Shrine Board for constructing pre-fabnricated tents and toilets at Baltal,it does speak volumes about the real mind of people and those who triggered the violent agaitation against the land transfer. Those who encouraged groups...
