Gurgaon: Coming out strongly against terrorism on the second day of her visit, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton noted on Sunday that Pakistan houses a "syndicate of terrorism", and that the US was watching the actions being taken by Islamabad against the scourge and expected that perpetrators of Mumbai attacks meet their "day of reckoning". She emphasised that terrorism is a threat to all, including those who have given haven to such elements, and every country should stand up to defeat the menace. "We are certainly watching and expecting that there will be justice and those who launched the horrific attacks in Mumbai will meet their day of reckoning," she said at an interaction with press here. Clinton, who will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and hold talks with External Affairs Minister S M Krishna tomorrow, said she realises that the "syndicate" of terrorism in Pakistan is "troubling" India, besides the US. Early Times Report Srinagar, Jul 19: Reiterating the state government's resolve to replace the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Kashmir Valley in phases, an official spokesman said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has already taken up the matter of withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) with the Centre. Highlighting the achievements made during the first six-month rule of the coalition government, he said Mr Abdullah favoured the withdrawal of the AFSPA. Salman Nizami JAMMU JULY 19: On last Friday night, a patient namely Nargis Begum of Gujjar Nagar Jammu who was seriously ill and wasn’t even able to move was brought to the Government Medical college’s emergency ward, her attendants accompanied her found no empty bed or chair and realized how hard life could be in a hospital in Jammu. First there was no chair or a bed around where the patient could be placed. After hectic efforts, when a chair was found, the doctor in the emergency was apparently in no mood to examine the patient. Early Times Report Jammu, July 19: At least two women of a family were drowned in river Chenab near Baba Sunder Singh Gurdwara at Akhnoor, where the duo had gone to pay obeisance, Sunday afternoon. Reports reaching here revealed that one of the woman slipped into Chenab, while another attempted to save her life. However, both of them were washed away by the fast current of the river. They have been identified as Dalit Kour wife of Swaran Singh and Kulbir Kour wife of Rashpal Singh both residents of Daskal Akhnoor. Early Times Report Srinagar: Forensic experts have collected blood samples of the four suspended police officers, who are accused of destroying evidence after the rape and murder of two women in Shopian town of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said Sunday.
