Taking advantage of the internal turbulence in the state, the Pakistani forces today once resorted to shelling and heaving firing on the Line of Control. The latest incident has been reported from Nowshera sector.
“Pakistani forces resorted to intermittent firing of mortar shells in Jhangarh area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri district for 45 minutes early this morning”, defence spokesman Lt. Col S D Goswami said.
Indian troops exercised restraint and did not retaliate, he said, adding there was no loss of life or damage to property in the shelling. "The troops are alert all along the Line of Control (LoC) to foil any evil design of the enemy", the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, the Centre has reacted strongly to the ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control today. "Ceasefire violations by Pakistan are unacceptable," said Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma. "We've conveyed our concerns to Pakistan," he added.

Thousands court arrest in country for return of land to SASB
The Union Cabinet of United Progressive Alliance government today had an emergency meeting in New Delhi to discuss the latest situation assuming in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports said that a situation briefing was obtained from the National Security Advisor MK Narayanan who was in Srinagar the previous day to hold talks with political leaders and the Governor’s administration.
