TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Fails to trace Umar Gul, who threatened Early Times
Police sides with separatists?
11/9/2014 11:45:23 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: Even after 3-months, Jammu and Kashmir Police have failed to trace one Umar Gul, who had threatened this newspaper of dire consequences, if it doesn't stop reporting against Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani. The accused had used choicest of invectives to intimidate the Early Times management and its staff. Police had taken the cognizance of the matter but failed to crack the case for the reasons best known to it. The threat is still looming large but Police have maintained a silence over the issue which has forced us to break our silence and inform our esteemed readers that despite receiving life threats and no support from the administration we are steadfast on our resolve to expose all the anti-national elements and those who are a threat to our country. Pertinently, in August this year Early Times received an e-mail from an ID [email protected]' the email read as: "Ur 3rd rate paper which seems nd infact reflects ur imaturity need nt to bark like dogs in Kashmir. u shud know da facts, Geelani sahab is only representative of Kashmir nd...

Police kept CM's Friday man 'happy'
11/9/2014 11:44:25 PM
ET Report Jammu, Nov 9: During the past six years NC-Cong regime left no stone unturned to muzzle the voice of Early Times and prevent it from reporting the facts. In the past Chief Minister's Friday man left no stone unturned to grab the land owned by the Early Times management. He used his influence to ensure that Police don't act against his goons. Police obliged him and kept him happy as he was one of the most powerful man in JK till he was sidelined by his master and dumped in Jammu. Despite facing all the hostilities we remained firm on our resolve and gave befitting reply to our detractors. It's unfortunate that Police force which is meant to provide security to common people...

Let people decide whether I'm deadwood or alive: Rasool to Omar
"Farooq Abdullah disrespected by Omar's tweets"
11/9/2014 11:44:17 PM
Bivek Mathur Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: Former Chief Secretary and National Conference MLC Sheikh Ghulam Rasool who is a new entrant to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today launched a scathing attack on Omar Abdullah for disrespecting NC Patron Farooq Abdullah on social networking site Twitter over his (Sheikh Ghulam Rasool's) as well as Ajat Shatru's accommodation in the party as MLCs. Rasool questioned how could Omar Abdullah decide whether I am deadwood or alive? "Let the public decide this and wait for the results of the elections after which it would be better declared who has actually turned deadwood", said Rasool in a telephonic conversation with Early Times. "I would ...

Mr Omar, Ajatshatru is not "deadwood", your courtiers did try to make him so
11/9/2014 11:44:05 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: Mr Omar Abdullah, you have termed your ex-party colleagues -- Ajatshatru Singh and Sheikh Ghulam Rasool - as "deadwood". The fact is, however, otherwise. You, your "unpopular" policies and your "heavyweight courtiers" have made every (un)successful attempt to belittle both of them, dismissing them as unimportant in the party. Take, for example, the case of Ajatshatru. He represented Nagrota Assembly segment from 1996 to 2002 and lost to BJP's Jugal Kishore in 2002 state polls. Although he lost, he cannot be ignored. Being the grandson of J&K's last Dogra ruler, Maharaja Hari Singh, he still enjoys a considerable influence in the area. He is still acceptabl...

Non committal BJP forces Omar to contest on two-seats
11/9/2014 11:43:59 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been reportedly not given any assurance of possible post-poll alliance by the Central leadership of the BJP. Despite the best efforts of the Omar Abdullah the Central BJP has remained non-committal about it. It's because of this strong views of the BJP, Omar was forced to not only leave his difficult Ganderbal seat but contest from two seats. Sources said such was the non committal attitude of the BJP leadership that Omar could sense that he would not be assured of any facilitation to help him win in Kashmir. The sources said the Prime Minister has directed for free and fair elections without any undue favour to any ...

Separatists double agents?
11/9/2014 11:43:51 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: Noted Supreme Court lawyer and chairman of the erstwhile Kashmir Committee, Ram Jethmalani, claiming that most separatists are "pro-India" and not Pakistani agents has exposed the so-called Hurriyat leaders before the Kashmiri people, whom they have been misleading for the past 22-years. "Jethmalani has been in touch with the separatists for the past many years and his assertion cannot be brushed aside," said a politician. He said, "Separatists have been meeting the lawyer for all these years and he has always said that all of them are his friends. There is every possibility of these people telling him that they are pro-India to garner New Delhi's sympathy...

Cong says it can work with PDP, NC says it can team up with Cong
Hoodwinking people
11/9/2014 11:43:40 PM
Rustam Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: The NC and the Congress denounce each other on a daily basis and holds each responsible for their declining popularity. Only a few days ago, both Ghulam Nani Azad and Saif-ud-Din Soz lambasted the NC and said the Congress is paying the price of unpopularity because it shared power with the NC. "The State Government has lost the people's confidence. The Congress is suffering because it didn't insist on the 2002 power-sharing formula," said Azad, adding that had the Congress led the Government after Omar Abdullah completed three years in office in 2013, the plight of the Congress today would not have been that miserable. As for Soz, he only the other ...

Mr CM you have violated RTI Act, it is not your achievement?
11/9/2014 11:42:07 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: During his election related public meetings Chief Minister Omar Abdullah highlights the achievements of his Government by talking about enactment of progressive legislations like Right to Information Act (RTI) and Public Services Guarantee Act (PSGA) and State Vigilance Commission Act by NC lead Government. All these laws are indeed very progressive but as far as implementation by his Government is considered, the situation is very much discouraging. Leaving PSGA and SVC Act aside, the implementation of just one of the important provisions of J&K RTI Act 2009 contained under section 4 (1) (b) wherein public authorities have to make pro active, volunta...

11/9/2014 11:27:36 PM
Bivek Mathur Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: The state BJP, which is riding more on Modi wave rather than its work on ground level, is unlikely to achieve its Mission 44+ in view of the allegations of sale of tickets to influential candidates and filing of nominations by some party leaders as independent candidates. BJP workers of Billawar constituency have warned to sit on fast unto death if mandate is given to an outsider. Supporting the candidature of Narayan Dutt Tripathi, they today assembled at Nagrota in Billawar and appealed to the party high command to declare a local candidate for Billawar assembly seat and warned that if it was not done, they would be forced to sit on dharn...

Indian stand rational
11/9/2014 11:27:24 PM
Neha Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: Notwithstanding his outrageous stand on former Pakistan President General Pervez Musarraf’s break-India four-point J&K solution, anti-democratic and divisive Article 370 and Hurriyat leaders in the valley, chairman of the so-called Kashmir Committee Ram Jethmalani, who was thrown out of the BJP for his anti-party activities sometime back, on Saturday called the Pakistani bluff and said that it was Pakistan and not India which violated the UN resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir. And he took this stand in Kashmir itself. “The usual slogan is that India had promised the will of the people should be determined by a plebiscite. References are given to the UN...

11/9/2014 11:26:52 PM
Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 9: A prominent organization of displaced Kashmiri Pandits has expressed dismay and concern that the community has failed to give mandate to an ideal person from the Habba Kadal assembly segment of the Srinagar district for the upcoming assembly elections. The All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AMCCC) believes that a Kashmiri Pandit with clean image with mass base should have been given the mandate from Habba Kadal. The Committee says that failure in this regard has meant Kashmiri Pandits may lose the opportunity of choosing their own person for this constituency. “Habba Kadal is an important constituency for the Kashmiri Pan...
