SRINAGAR, Oct 13: Notwithstanding a section of politics and media trying to agitate regional and communal sentiments over the death of a Jammu man in custody of Srinagar Police last week, both, the judges who granted the remand twice, as well as the pathologist, who conducted the post mortem of Rajneesh Kumar Sharma alias Rajesh in Srinagar, have turned out to be from the religion and the region of the deceased. While the admission records of Jesus & Marry School Dalgate have shown the age of the girl behind the tragedy, Amina Marazi of Abi Karpora, as 16 years and 11 months, observation details of a 4-member team of the doctors of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar---who have conducted the post mortem and recorded the entire procedure on video in presence of an executive magistrate---do not show any injuries or torture marks on the dead body.

Exuding confidence that the Central government would find solutions to all problems of Jammu and Kashmir, Home Minister P Chidambaram today said that this could be achieved through dialogue with every section of society.
"I want to assure you that the Prime Minister is open to dialogue...We mean what we say...With every section. We will absorb all suggestions and try to come to widely acceptable solutions to all underlying problems within a short period of time," he said. He said that suggestions for solution to all the problems of Jammu and Kashmir should come from the people of the state and the Central government can help in this process.

Jammu, Oct 13 An army jawan today tested positive for swine flu here raising the total number of people affected by the disease, so far, to 35 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Of the total H1N1 infection, Jammu region accounted for 22 confirmed cases while 13 tested positive for the virus in the valley, health department officials said.
The authorities here received test report of three patients from the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) and one army jawan was found positive and two others negative.
The jawan, posted at an army camp here, was admitted to the military hospital, officials said.

New Delhi: The government on Tuesday asked the newly created central universities to conduct a combined entrance exam for students and design innovative courses on the unique ecosystem of the region.
The vice chancellors of 15 of these universities met HRD Minister Kapil Sibal on Tuesday and presented their development plan and courses.
"The 15 central universities will conduct one exam to take in students. This single entrance system may be extended to other existing 25 central universities later," Sibal told reporters.

Srinagar, Oct 13 : Pilgrims against the VIP quota have been selected from Jammu and Kashmir, where first flight with Hajjis will leave for Saudia Arabia on October 20.
More than 7,500 pilgrims from the state will undertake Haj-2009 from the state, State Haj Officer (SHO) Abdul Salam said here.
He said there were around 150 vacant seats after adjusting those who were selected during draw of lots after Central Haj Committee (CHC) allotted additional 1,500 seats.
Dr Salam said the SHC had received a letter from CHC to select intending pilgrims against MP and VIP quota.

Jammu, Oct 13 : Normal work remained paralyzed in Jammu wing of state High Court and its subordinate courts in Jammu district on account of one day strike of Bar Association Jammu.
The strike call was given by Bar Association Jammu against the recent order by the state High Court wherein registration work has been entrusted to one court instead of nine courts as was being done since years. The Association is also pressing for the early completion of work on the lawyers’ chamber.
