Sageer recommendations | What will Rather Panel do by the way? | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 13: The National Conference has referred Justice Sageer’s recommendations to a panel headed by the Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather for consideration. The panel has to submit its report within three months. A question arises. What will the NC do after the panel submits its report? Can it bring autonomy to the state?
Justice Sageer headed one of the working groups formed by the Prime Minister in 2006. The group submitted its report early this year and National Conference considered it a victory. However, the National Conference could not celebrate the `victory’ as the first phase of the on-going agitation commenced soon after.
On January, National Conference patron and union minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah said the Prime Minster will restore autonomy to Jammu Kashmir after consulting the representatives of all the regions of the state.

new delhi, Oct 13: Trying to find way out of the Kashmir quagmire, centre today named a panel of interlocutors, including eminent journalist Dilip Padgaonkar to hold talks with all shades of opinion including the separatists in Jammu and Kashmir.
The interlocutors have been given the task of bringing back the derailed peace process on the track and restarting the stalled dialogue process. The three member panel includes Dalip Padgaonkar, Information Commissioner M.M. Ansari and noted academician Radha Kumar. The panel has been finalized by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram.

| | 1.50 lakh pilgrims visit Vaishnodevi shrine during Navratras | | | JAMMU: A record of over 1.50 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine during the first five days of Navratra which commenced on October 8. There has been an increase of nearly 20,000 pilgrims this year as against 1.30 lakh pilgrims, who had visited the shrine during the corresponding period of in 2009, officials said here today.
They said that over 66 lakh pilgrims from different parts of the country have also performed darshan at the shrine till date since the beginning of this year, which is more than 1.2 lakh as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

The deceased has been identified as Ravinder Singh, 43, a fourth class employee in IAF.
