10/13/2013 11:40:50 PM

Seismologist opinion on quakes in Doda an eye wash
`Hydroelectric project reservoirs not reason for quakes'
10/13/2013 11:40:36 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 13: The recent remarks of a seismologist team, which toured erstwhile district Doda to ascertain the truth behind regular tremors in the area, likely was a motivated statement as the head of the team, vice chancellor of Kashmir University, Professor Talat Ahmad only talked about hydroelectric projects not being the reason for quakes. He failed to make a strong statement as why regular tremors are being felt in the region. There are many loopholes in the statement of Ahmad, which was aimed at only giving a clean chit to the state government for constructing more and more hydroelectric projects in the area which has been left at the mercy of God after more th...

Backdoor appointments in Irrigation deptt in 2003
Daily wagers work for 'stagnated' Canal project
10/13/2013 11:39:13 PM
Ajay Sharma Katra, Oct 13: In the same old narrative of appointments through backdoor, it is the account of those having been accommodated by authorities at the helm of Irrigation Department, albeit in the year 2002-2003. If the appointments having been made in complete violation of the government order issued in 1994 that imposed blanket ban on appointment of daily wagers in the state, the present dispensation has simply allowed things to continue rather than correcting the irregular practices by the previous regime. The appointments so made, no matter as daily wagers or casual laborers , are now an eyesore for many, who demand these to be dismissed and eligible persons be take...

NC-Congress shut doors of democracy in J&K
Delimitation Issue
10/13/2013 11:38:52 PM
Rustam JAMMU, Oct 13: "Jammu & Kashmir is the only state in India where delimitation (of Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies) was denied by the (NC-Congress) coalition government, thus shutting the doors of democracy for every person. Delimitation was denied because no Kashmiri party, may it be, Congress, NC or PDP would like to ensure equitable share of membership in the Legislative Assembly nor the Kashmiri leadership would digest political reservations in the legislature for the Scheduled Tribes -- Gujjars, Bakerwals and Gaddis. The Kashmiri leadership has all along been exploiting the innocent Dalits as there are seven reserved seats of the Assembly for the Scheduled Caste (SC) onl...

On the other hand the RTI Activists have severely criticized the SIC's order as they claim that the said order has no merits in view of the overriding effect of Right to Information Act under which J&K RTI Act 2009 and even Central RTI Act of 2005 override all previous laws including Official Secrets A...
