| Congress may not repeat its 2008 performance in Jammu, say people | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 23: The JKPCC has been asserting day in and day out that the Congress would either form the next government in Jammu & Kashmir on its own or form it in alliance with other political party (read NC or PDP). The JKPCC has been consistently claiming that the Congress will emerge very strong in all the three regions of the state - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
It is difficult to say if the Congress would improve its position in Kashmir despite the fact that the Congress-led UPA Government's policy towards Jammu & Kashmir is almost similar to that the NC and similar other Kashmir-based outfits, including the so-called mainstream parties. Right now, the Congress is re...

Jammu, Oct 23: Just a day after coming under attack from separatists for daring to take on Pakistan, Chief Minister stepped down from his aggressive posturing. He made clear that people of the state are not in favour of war.

Omar was present when the Home Minister made this statement and even agreed with him. However, a day after his statement, separatists criticized the Chief Minister with hardliner Sayed Ali Geelani going to the extent of saying that when even Omar Abdullah fe...
| | | | Pinning faith in a rogue | | Don't trust Islamabad | | | Neha
Jammu, Oct 23: One can understand the reasons behind the insistence of Kashmiri leadership and its handful of agents in Jammu on what they call a result-oriented dialogue between India and Pakistan. By result-oriented dialogue between the two countries they mean compromise of Indian sovereignty in Jammu & Kashmir, the rise of a situation under which Islamabad will be an undisputed master of POJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, which are Indian, and will have a very effective say in this part of the state, spectacular victory of communalism and two-nation theory that resulted in the communal partition of India in 1947, enslavement of Jammu and Ladakh on a permanent basis and so on. They consider...

"Accession is based on three things only, foreign affairs, communication and defence. It is an established fact that we have acceded only not merged. Soz should go through the history and that he is pleasing his bosses in New Delhi by issuing statements against NC…Soz should know that facts are facts and constitutional reality is reality. | | | | Curbs on Kashmiri separatists likely to continue | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 23: If one tabulates the days and weeks separatist leaders have spent under house arrest in the Kashmir valley during the last one year one will find that they have spent most of the time within the four walls of their houses. Even during some religious festivals these separatists have not been allowed to offer prayers in mosques of their choice. What is interesting about it is that these separatists give a call for "march" to this or that destination and police are left with no other alternative but to foil such protest rallies to curb violence and casualties.
Invariably these separatists announce in advance their programme for offering prayers in particula...
