Interlocutors’ J&K visit: Gains &Losses | NEWS ANALYSIS | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 29: Now that interlocutors on J&K had gone back to Delhi after spending almost six days in the state (five days in Kashmir and one day in Jammu), it is time to examine the approach they adopted to the issues facing the people of the disturbed state and fall-out of their visit. Such an exercise is a must in order to put things in perspective. Such an exercise would help policy-planners in New Delhi or those handling the sensitive border State of J&K reach right conclusion and tell the interlocutors where they went wrong or otherwise.
In Kashmir, the interlocutors tried their level best, even at the cost of their self-respect, to meet the established separatists, but failed. They failed despite the fact that they spoke the language of the separatists, as also the language of Maoist terrorists Arundhati Roy, Gautam Navlakha and Varvara Rao. JAMMU, Oct 29: A Rashtriya Rifles (RR) jawan was today wounded after his rifle went off accidentally in Rai Chak forests of Basantgarh in Udhampur.
The injured, whom police sources identified as tinder Singh, was hospitalised.
The incident took place during a search and cordon operation by troops in the Rai Chak woods, the sources added.

JAMMU, Oct 29: A territorial army (TA) jawan was today killed in an ambush by militants in Nawapachi area of Kishtwar.
Official sources said an army patrol was ambushed by militants in Nawapachi area of Kishtwar in the afternoon, resulting in serious injuries to a TA jawan.He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds, the sources added.

According to police sources, to facilitate hassle free passage Darbar Move convoy for the bi-annual practice of shifting the seat of power from Valley to Jammu, the authorities have ordered one-way traffic.

SRINAGAR, Oct 29: Apprehending protests after Friday prayers, the authorities today imposed curfew in several areas of Srinagar city and parts of Kupwara and Banidpora districts in north Kashmir.
"Curfew has been clamped in Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar, Safakadal and Maharajgunj police station areas in old Srinagar city," a police spokesman said here.
He said similar restrictions were also imposed in Kupwara, Trehgam, Kralpora and Bandipora towns in north Kashmir.
However, curfew was relaxed from 9 am onwards in parts of Kupwara district.
