Does phone tapping theory in Giri "encounter" hold water?
11/28/2010 11:48:09 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 28: Finding it hard to digest the phone tapping theory of police in the Giri encounter, senior officers of the state administration strongly feel that it was allegedly floated to give legal cover to the "encounter". After the alleged encounter, which Giri's father Jeet Raj maintains was staged, police claimed they were keeping a track on the victim's 25 cellphone numbers. Police also claimed that it was only after they tapped his cellphones for two months that they came to know about the conspiracy he had allegedly hatched with Nagar Singh alias Nago to eliminate witnesses in the Amandeep murder case. Telephone tapping often needs to be authorised by a cou...

The Mirwaiz, addressing a seminar at the Academy of Fine Arts here, said that Kashmir is a disputed land and the Indian government should realize the strong sentiments of 'azadi' of the people of the Valley. Mufti set an example of good governance'
11/28/2010 11:47:27 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 28: Three Chief Minister's ruled the state since November 2002. Only one among them, people by and large believe, succeeded in setting an example of good governance. A cross section of the people who talked to Early Times rated Mufti Muhammad Sayed as the most successful candidate among the three. Ghulam Nabi Azad promised a clean administration but failed miserably to uphold the secular fabric of the state. During his regime, the wedge between Kashmir and Jammu regions widened. Azad mishandled the Amarnath land row and brought the state to the verge of disintegration. Omar Abdullah promised a lot but failed to deliver. New Delhi made a mention of trust de...

Separation of Jammu from Kashmir the only solution
11/28/2010 11:47:06 PM
RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 28: The people of Jammu again observed an impressive bandh on Saturday, may be for three hours. Actually, the people of Jammu had been appealed to suspend economic activities and keep their shutters down, keep vehicles off the road and express their resentment over the activities undertaken by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to prepare ground for unsettling the settled issue of J&K only for three hours. It is not really important that the duration of the bandh/Chakka Jaam was just three hours or symbolic. What was important was the message the impressive bandh sent. The message was that there is no place whatever in the Jammu's scheme of things for the ...
