Jammu, Dec 1: As Early Times had reported in its Tuesday issue BJP’s ‘accidental or misconceived’ about turn on Jammu and Kashmir’s Central Universities, the Lok Sabha today witnessed heated exchange of arguments between BJP and Congress even as the Lower House of Parliament passed the Central Universities amendment Bill.
A self proclaimed champion of Jammu region, BJP had on Monday surprised everyone when its member Anurag Thakur opposed the Central Universities amendment Bill which was moved by Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal with the purpose of bifurcation of the Central University of Jammu and Kashmir to provide two Central Universities for Kashmir and Jammu regions separately. BJP MP Anurag Thakur’s stand on the issue was contrary to his party’s campaign in Jammu which actively spearheaded agitation in the region earlier this year.

Jammu, Dec 1: In what can be seen as an advance new year gift to the aspiring paramedics as well as the ailing populace in rural areas, the government today approved creation of 2000 posts in the health department.
The decision taken in a high level meeting chaired by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather and attended by Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma besides Finance and Health Secretaries is aimed at providing adequate staff in staff deficient hospitals in the Health Department, particularly in remote and far-flung areas.

New Delhi, Dec 1: There was increase in number of infiltration cases along Line of Control (J and K) this year, Lok Sabha was informed today.
According to the data furnished by Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran in reply to a written question, a total of 395 cases of apprehension of infiltration were reported this year as compared to 342 in 2008.
Whereas, there was decline in possible infiltration along Indo-Bangladesh border as 2,098 cases were reported as against 3,175 in last year.
The Government, however, said there is an "overall decline" in infiltration.

Beijing/New Delhi, Dec 1: The diplomatic seesaw between India and China came in for discussion in the Lok Sabha here today even as a Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing tried to avoid a direct reply on whether China had pressurisd the State Government of Jammu and Kashmir in India to stop construction of a road near the border area.

Chandigarh, Dec 1: Punjab DGP P S Gill today said that ISI is making desperate attempts to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
Addressing his first press conference here four months after he took over as DGP after relinquishing the charge in J-K, Gill said, "ISI has always been active. Due to the prevailing situation in Pakistan they (ISI) are making desperate attempts to revive terrorism in J-K and Punjab".
"It is motivating the youth, especially the unemployed, through various incentives including sending them abroad to Malaysia, Greece etc," the DGP said.

Senior IAS officer, Mrs Sonali Kumar, has been issued a ``warning’’ by the chief secretary, Mr S S Kapur, for issuing Government Order No 148-SFT of 2005 dated 29-03-2005.
The warning has been issued mainly because of the grant of permission by the Forest Department for use of forest land by Shri Amar Nath Ji Shrine Board (SASB). The allegation against Mrs Kumar is that wide GO 148-SFT, she permitted use of 3,642 kanals of forest land for non-forestry purposes in favour of the SASB.
