RANAS: A tale of two brothers | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 1: Here is a tale of two Rana brothers, though they are three. The third brother lives his own life away from public domain. It is a very interesting tale. One is a doctor-cum-columnist and the other is a technocrat-cum-businessman-cum political advisor. One preaches nationalism, democracy and secularism and always keeps company with those who have been fighting regressive, backward-looking, extremist and separatist forces in Kashmir. The other is flirting with the protagonists of greater autonomy, bordering on a virtual sovereignty, and preaching fake secularism. One is hailing the critics of greater autonomy, self-rule and independence and terming the critics as nationalists. The other is denouncing the protagonists of Indian sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity as communalist of communalists, reactionaries and divisive. In fact, he is using all kinds of invectives and epithets against nationalists to remain in the good books of his political master/masters.
One is taking on the authorities for according a step-motherly treatment to...

| | A head must roll---either DGP Khoda’s or MP Shariq’s | Qamarwari shootout | | Ahmed Ali Fayyaz
SRINAGAR, Dec 1: In June National Conference’s Minister in the Cabinet, Ali Mohammad Sagar, called CRPF “an unbridled force”. Two months later, NC’s Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha member) from South Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Rattanpuri, used the same adjective for Jammu & Kashmir Police. Now, NC’s MP from North Kashmir (Rajya Sabha member), Sharief-ud-din Shariq has audaciously branded J&K Police as “killers”. Shariq has dismissed Monday’s broad daylight shootout in the capital city outskirts of Qamarwari as “cold-blooded murder of three innocent youth”. According to local newspapers, Shariq threatened to take up Monday’s “brutal incident” not only with Chief Minister but...
| | `Valley eves end life for trivial reasons' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 1: Twenty-two year old Ayesha Bano of Chogal, Handwara today consumed poison. She was rushed to hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead. A case has been registered.
This is how news agencies and newspapers report such incidents. Nothing moves. The concerned express shock, sociologists count the numbers and the show goes on. Hundreds of Valley women have ended their lives during the past three years.
One shivers at the reasons behind most of the suicides. Some times the reasons are too trivial to justify an emotional response. On November 1, last year, a young girl from Ganderbal district ended her life when somebody told her that the pre-pai...

RUSTAM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 1: The Early Times has accessed a letter written by Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. The letter was written only on November 27. He is the same Subramanian Swamy who approached the Supreme Court of India and demanded action against everyone involved in the 2G 1.76 lakh crore spectrum scam. His action created an embarrassing situation for the Prime Minister, who is undoubtedly very clean. He is the same Subramanian Swamy who fought a legal battle in the Supreme Court against the DMK government that had planned to dismantle Ram Setu, our priceless heritage site connected with Lord Ram. Again, he is the same ...
| | With Pakistan losing international support, Hurriyat, other separatists feel isolated in Valley | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec1: With people seeing through the game plan of separatists as well as Pakistan there are no takers for the strike calls given by the Hurriyat leadership now and the situation has started limping back to normalcy in trouble-torn Kashmir Valley .
Moreover with Pakistan losing international support on Kashmir issue, Hurriyat and other separatist factions are also feeling isolated in Valley day by day.
As the masses have suffered a lot due to over five month long turmoil in Valley and they are already fed up with separatists dictates will no longer give any credence to their appeals of bandh calls in future now. Nor are they interested in giving any credence to...
