Srinagar, Dec 24: A day after results of the recently held Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir were declared, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which emerged as a single largest party with 28 seats remained tightlipped about its future course of action but maintained that formation of the next dispensation would take time. However, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) which emerged as second largest party with 25 seats seems all set to stake the claim for government formation in the state.
Sources told Early Times that BJP has roped in six more MLAs, including Pawan Kumar Gupta from Udhampur, Sajad Gani Lone and his associate, PDF chairman Hakim Yasin and two other independent candidates and its tally stands at 31 a...

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 24: The People’s Democratic Party is yet to come to the terms with the kind of verdict which, it feels, is totally beyond their comprehension.
Though the party has emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats followed by BJP with 25 in the 87-member House, it is yet to come to the terms with the fractured mandate given by the people of Kashmir.
"There is more to introspect than to cheer the half victory," a senior PDP leader said.
He said the verdict was totally unexpected. "We were under the impression that there is a strong undercurrent against the ruling combine," he said and added that in Jammu BJP swept the polls while riding on Modi...

"We have won on our work and not because of Omar Abdullah. Had we contested elections just as NC candidate then the defeat was sure for us. Omar had left no scope for us and we are holding deliberations of either sticking to the party or leaving it," said a senior NC leader, wishing not to be named.
The sense and feeling among the NC MLAs desirous of leaving the party is corroborated by the fact that Omar is now leavin...

| | Yet again, single largest party got 28 seats! | Startling coincidence | | Kunal Shrivatsa
Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 24: Another assembly election and one more fractured mandate but a hung Assembly third time in row is not an isolated resemblance. Some peculiar kinds of similarities are also attached to every Assembly poll held since 2002.
In a rare coincidence, the single largest party on all the three occasions has bagged 28 seats, which has appeared to be a stumbling block for the political parties for the last 12 years.
If the figures of 2002-Assembly polls take into account then it was National Conference (NC) which got as many as 28 seats and appeared as the single largest party though it did not stake claim to form the government as it was well sho...
