JAMMU, Feb 13: Going through the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis of the Jammu and Kashmir state, certain startling revelations have come to fore as according to this analysis, the state has been placed at 24th position in inter-state comparison of 32 states of India.
According to the SWOT analysis of the state, measuring the growth of economy in terms of Gross State Domestic Product at constant (2004-05) prices for the year 2011-12 for all states and UTs except Lakshdeep, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu the Jammu and Kashmir state with 6.19 per cent rate is placed at 24th position among 32 Indian states/ UTs.
Embarrassing for Jammu and Kashmir is the fact that a state like Bihar which was earlier known for corruption has shown remarkable improvement in economy and has occupied top rank with record growth of 13.26 per cent followed by central state of Madhya Pradesh (MP) with 11.81 per cent as against national average of 6.21 per cent.

SRINAGAR, Feb 13: At a time when the entire opposition in Jammu & Kashmir has raised alarm over the recently created administrative units in the state, a glaring discrepancy with respect to the clubbing of families within a particular village has come to the fore.
More than three dozen families living in a particular locality in North Kashmir's Baramulla district have been clubbed with three separate Panchayat Halqas. The residents of the locality are at loss and they don't understand the logic behind this irrational clubbing.

| | | | Even in election year, Omar Govt has nothing for media | | | | ET Report
JAMMU, Feb 13: It was only after the ETV Urdu correspondent asked a question at today's press conference that the Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather said that "Government is actively considering establishing press housing colonies in the State". Like in four of the last five budgets, Rather made no mention of the conditions in which the fourth estate is operating both in Kashmir and Jammu.
Believe it or not, the proposal of establishing two residential colonies for mediapersons, one each in Srinagar and Jammu, has been under the "active consideration" of successive governments in the last 10 years. Even then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who singularly holds the credit ...

JAMMU, Feb 13: The workers in state unit of BJP are having mixed feelings on Modi bashing by none other than the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself in the state Assembly on Wednesday. The workers feel disappointed the way Omar lashed out at their Prime Ministerial candidate which was responded with stone silence by the party legislators in the House. The workers are happy too because they feel what they have been observing and conveying it to the party leadership about the 'conduct' of the legislators vis-a-vis their soft approach towards the government, NC in particular, stands vindicated and the MLAs by making that explicit have exposed themselves .
It was nothing n... | |

JAMMU, Feb 13: Immediately after delivering the budget speech, the concerned Minister addressed the media. Most of the remarks of the minister were taken with a pinch of salt especially his claim about the CAG. "Even the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has in unambiguous terms patted the State for its internal resources mobilization initiatives," he said.
However, the following examples reflect the hollowness of the minister's claims. The CAG took the state government to task in its 2013 audit report. The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit report, 2013 has brought to the fore this glaring example of non-performance of the Rural Development Depa...
