AMMU, Mar 2: Jammu and Kashmir government has been directed to explore possibility of declaring all the properties, movable and immovable, sold by the displaced persons (Kashmiri Pandits) after 1989-90, as “Distress Sales” and declare sales as null and void and accordingly, restore possession of the properties back to respective Kashmiri Pandits who were recorded owners.
Government has been further asked to impose a blanket ban on the acquisition of the properties of Kashmiri Pandits by the state government and also to ensure implementation of Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Immovable Property (Preservation, Protection and Restraint on Distressed Sales) Act, 1997 in letter and spirit. Srinagar, Mar 2 : A fierce encounter that ensued between militants and security forces in south Kashmir left a militants dead and a soldier seriously wounded.
According to reports, militants fired upon a patrol party at Dadsar, Tral in Pulwama district last evening. The security forces, however, did not retaliate immediately.
Reports said the 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) along with police and Special Operation Group personnel laid a siege of the area and in the process two militants reportedly got trapped in a residential house. Unconfirmed reports said that this house belongs to one Gulzar Ahmed Mir, an employee in Power Department.

JAMMU, Mar 02: In unconnected road mishaps, a sports teacher and a BSF cop were killed and 18 others wounded across the state since Tuesday.
Vijay Kumar, a sports teacher in government higher secondary school, Chenani, was wounded Tuesday morning after his scooty was hit by a truck at Bali Nullah in Udhampur.
He was admitted to hospital where he died today, police sources said. BSF cop was killed and nine others were wounded when a truck in which they were travelling skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Balakote in Mendhar, Poonch. The mishap occured when the truck carrying 14 BSF personnel of 76 Bn was on its way to its headquarter from Rajouri.

JAMMU, Mar 02: To discuss various matters, including flood lighting of the international border (IB) on this side, BSF Tuesday held a flag meeting with the Pak Rangers.
The meeting took place on zero line between Peeli Post of Pakistan and Octroi outpost of India in R S Pura sector Tuesday.
Various border-related issues, including objections to flood lighting work done by the BSF and border coordination, were discussed during the meeting, official sources said.
