PYC polls in J&K a farce…. a pre fixed match…..?
6/4/2012 12:08:30 AM
early times report Jammu, Jun 3: The recently concluded Pradesh Youth Congress elections in the state may have been projected by the authorities and leadership as ' fair and transparent' as far as process is concerned but neither the procedure and conduct of the polls was a 'fair game' nor were the results as outcome of a democratically held exercise aimed at strengthening inner party democracy. On a broader scale, the PYC polls too turned out to be a one up man ship between the two rivals Prof Saif-u-Din Soz and Ghulam Nabi Azad. The polls have seen Azad - sponsored candidate, Shahnawaz Choudhary ultimately hitting the PYC - President bull leaving behind Soz's trusted henc...

BJP's discrimination slogan fizzling out
MLAs confined to constituency politics, personal equations
6/4/2012 12:07:54 AM
early times report Jammu, Jun 3: The slogan of state unit of BJP on which it has been over the years cashing on public sentiments and making political gains has been discrimination with Jammu in various spheres of governance at the hands of Kashmir centric rulers. In the year 2008 Assembly apart from Amarnath land row, it was the high point around which issues were spun and party managed a never before performance. The leaders would not feel tired of raking it up in highest pitch anytime on any forum. But over a period of time the discrimination slogan is getting blurred in the confusion and dilemma of the leadership as well the MLAs of party, so much so that no MLA in any faction is now...

Kashmiriyat & BJP
6/4/2012 12:07:42 AM
RUSTAM JAMMU, Jun 3: It's radical change in the attitude of the BJP towards Kashmir. Radical to the extent that it has started hailing "Kashmiriyat" like the Kashmiri secessionists, Kashmiri "mainstream" leaders, Kashmiri commentators, Delhi-based commentators, "intellectuals", ""trouble-shooters", "conflict-managers" and track-II actors and those ruling the country have been doing, particularly since 1975, when the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi handed over the state power to the protagonist of plebiscite and a votary of three-nation theory Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on a platter. It was in 1975 or immediately thereafter that one Jammu-based Kashmir expert coined the term "Kashmiriyat" t...
