JAMMU, Jan 17: Deep rooted nepotism within the department of Higher Education has left it woefully exposed once again as an adhoc lecturer managed to get the Principal of a city college attached for 'disobedience and insubordination'.

According to sources, Geetanjali Rana's order of transfer was modified, following which another lecturer in English, Jyoti Dutt was transferred from GCW Gandhi Nagar to MAM College to make place for her.
Following modification in the order, one Santosh Sharma, who was engaged as adhoc lecturer in English and posted at MAM College had to be relieved under rules. Sources divulge that Santosh Sharma, whose husband, a local businessman reportedly has close proximity to a NC leader from Doda approached the Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akba...

SRINAGAR, Jan 17: The landslide victory for Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the recent elections to the four states could definitely affect the political fortunes in Jammu and Kashmir, political pundits observe.
According to them, BJP's win in the four states is likely to lead the party to power in Centre. The party which was seen as the runner-up in the Parliament has practically changed its feel and colour after Modi's anointment as Prime Ministerial candidate.
The Modi effect can be clearly established by the fact that Congress failed to do any wonders in Rajasthan, where Rahul Gandhi addressed rallies. Contrary to this, BJP won 16 out of the 20 seats in the areas where M...

JAMMU, Jan 17: Is the demand in Jammu province for five more districts; namely Billawar, RS Pura, Akhnoor, Rural Jammu and Nowshera, reasonable? The answer is in the affirmative. Indeed, the demand is old that needs positive consideration by the NC-Congress coalition Government.
It needs to be noted that the successive Governments in the state accorded a special treatment to Kashmir by creating more districts in the Valley despite the fact that there was no demand, as also despite the fact that none of the commissions/committees appointed by the State Government to look into the demands of the people of Jammu province for more districts on the ground that its area was two time mor...
