No concrete results in first round of govt-medico talks

Early Times Report Srinagar/Jammu, Oct 21: The first round of talks between agitating junior doctors and a high level government panel headed by Finance Minister Abdulah Rahim Rather today ended without any tangible results. The meetings held in Srinagar, also attended by a team of five doctors from Jammu, revolved around the same old act between the two parties where government insisted in calling off strike while doctors asked for fulfillment of demands before doing so. A representative of the Junior Doctors Association told Early Times over phone from Srinagar that the government is buy time by trying to convince doctors to call off strike and wait for the follow-up action. The Finance Minister after listening to the demands of the striking doctors, advised them to call off their strike in view of the problems being faced by the poor patients. He assured them that as per the decision already taken at a meting held on 16th August 2009, the government is committed to address their grievances before Darbar move. Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 21: A self-styled Divisional Commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen was among three militants killed by the police in Reasi district’s Mahore belt, 200 kms from here today. On a tip off, Special Operation Group of Police assisted by Rastriya Rifles troops launched a joint operation in Dangaltop forest belt in Pathria belt of the district and cordoned off the hideout around 0145 hours, a police officer said. SANT KUMAR SHARMA Jammu, Oct 21: Despite rapid growth of mobile telephony over the last few years, the government has failed to issue necessary guidelines or criteria regarding siting of mobile telephone towers. The towers are being set up, here, there and everywhere, but no norms have been codified for setting up these towers so far. Early Times Report JAMMU, OCT 21: The state government today announced that it has enhanced the ex-gratia cash relief being given to 1947 refugees of the Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
