| ET newspaper harassed, baseless cases slapped | | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 24: Call it an irony or paradox of the claims, the state government is going against the grain of what it calls for 'professionalism' in the Police Department. For harassment and threatening tactics are the only tools which the Police force are using to crush and cover its own (mis)deeds while dealing with crime, at least in Jammu. Worse, not even media is spared in their tactics to cover up their acts of omission and commission.
While the incident of so called Giri encounter is being questioned and contested by the media, the Early Times newspaper which is the only English daily to have brazenly tried to expose police claims, is now being harassed on the pre...

| | | | Omar talks of making police people-friendly force, does not make mention of "mysterious" encounter killing | | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 24: Even as chief minister Omar Abdullah today talked of making J&K police a people-friendly force, he did not utter a word on the "mysterious" encounter killing of Rakesh Singh Giri near Satyam Resorts here Sunday last.
How could an unclear police force be people-friendly? Their post-encounter behaviour is somewhat awkward and shows that they are not in a mood to discuss the incident anymore. They are so unclear that they did not even bother to deny the charge of Giri's family that he was allegedly murdered in a staged encounter.
Police denial, supported with the "genuine" encounter details, was must.
It has been felt that despite their hundreds of meets h...
