To ensure transparent elections in the two constituencies of frontier region of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, the computerised randomisation system for allotment of polling stations to political parties has been introduced for the first time, an official spokesman said.
Besides, comprehensive video recording and still photography are also being done, the spokesman said.
Leh and Nobra constituencies of Leh district along with eight other constituencies of the state are going to the polls in the first phase on November 17.

Life in Kashmir valley remained paralysed for the second successive day today in the wake of the curfew-like restrictions imposed by the authorities to prevent people from gathering at the historic Jamia Masjid here for Friday prayers.
Troops were deployed in strength in the city and elsewhere in the Valley with road blocks being put up in key areas.
However, officials at the Police Control Room said no curfew has been imposed and that security has been beefed up to maintain law and order.

Expressing serious concern over the alleged involvement of a serving Army officer in the Malegaon blast, the Centre on Friday said necessary action will taken against him by the defence ministry on the basis of the Maharashtra police's investigation report in the case.
The government said it would go to the root of the September 29 blasts that claimed six lives and in which a lieutenant colonel is suspected to be involved.

After having failed to push militants to this side of the border for subversive activities, the Pakistani authorities have adopted a different tactics to allow militants to enter Jammu and Kashmir.
