| Omar spits on Akbar Lone's DO's, grants extension to VC Hamal | | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 8: Breaking the tradition and propriety of making it public, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in his capacity as Chancellor, has arbitrarily granted extension of two years to the term of Irshad Ahmad Hamal as Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri.
Top level bureaucratic sources disclosed to Early Times that Chief Minister silently dashed off a communication to the BGSB University VC that his term, which was close to it's end on completion of three years, had been extended by two more years. Significantly the decision was taken after the Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone wrote two demi-official letters to the Chief Minis...
| | | | Modi makes Omar's political career uncertain | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 8: A massive and landslide four-zero victory for BJP in the four States could affect the political fortunes of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Omar who had fallen short of abusing BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narindra Modi was glued to the TV watching results whole day.
BJP's win in four seats is likely to set the party of course to power in Centre. The party which was seen as B-team of Congress in the Parliament had changes its texture and colour after Modi was appointed as Prime Ministerial candidate of the party.
It can clearly be established by the fact that Congress had failed to win seven seats where Rahul Gandhi addressed rallies in Rajas...
| | | | Can BJP ride on Modi's back in J&K? | | | | Abodh Sharma
Jammu, Dec 8: Results of the Assembly elections in four states that were declared today would definitely have raised hackles of the state BJP in J&K, but would the party be able to ride on the crest of Narendra Modi's wave to repeat its 2008 tally would be interesting to see.
A near complete safronization of the four states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh and Delhi has enthused a sense of rejuvenation and invigoration in the state of the BJP in J&K, which got unprecedented 11 seats in the State Legislative Assembly in 2008, but it was reduced to mere four member party after it expelled seven of its MLAs following cross voting fiasco in the elections to the Legisla...

Jammu, Dec 8: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's early morning tweets on election results of five states including Delhi, Madya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Rajsthan and a veiled attack on UPA for "last Minute populist schemes", vindicate the news report carried by this newspaper today wherein it was suggested that National Conference is moving close to BJP.

Jammu, Dec 8: Has Omar Abdullah, who is heading the Government in Jammu and Kashmir in alliance with the Congress, started distancing himself from the UPA following the rout the Congress has faced in the Assembly elections in four states, for which the results were declared today?
What seems to have shocked the Congress is the way it has been decimated in Delhi and Rajasthan. In case of Delhi Congress Government led by Sheila Dixit stood unseated after a gap of 15 years. The election results in these four states seems to have convinced Omar Abdullah that Congress is no longer invincible. He believes that the Congress is so much vulnerable to light storms that a year ...
