Investors explore investment opportunities in Kashmir

Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Mar 15 A group of world’s leading financial investors, currently on a two-day visit to Kashmir to look for investment opportunities in the State, met the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad here last evening and discussed some potential areas for investment. The Deputy Chief Minister, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Minister for Finance, Tariq Hameed Karra and Economic Advisor to J&K Government and Chairman, J&K Bank, Dr. Haseeb Drabu also joined the interactive session with the visiting investors. The group comprised investors from United States of America and the United Kingdom including Capital Group, Fidelity, First State Investors and Federated Investors, collectively controlling businesses worth $ 30 trillion around the globe. The Chief Minister briefed the foreign investors about the improved security scenario in the State, especially in Kashmir, and told them that areas like hydro electricity, financial services and off-shore banking offered great opportunities for investment here. Sumit Sharma Jammu | Mar 15 A person claiming himself as a US Police investigating official has reportedly duped several people on pretext of providing them visas for settling in USA and went underground after collecting huge sums. Govind Singh s/o Amar Singh r/o Greater Kailash is one of the victims who fell into the trap of the ‘US Police officer’. New Delhi | Mar 15 A proposed strike by almost all sections of Air India employees next Tuesday on various demands, including implementation of agreements relating to wages and cadre policy, has been declared illegal. After a meeting today, top officials of the the Civil Aviation Ministry and the National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL), which runs Air India, decided to "take serious view" if the employees went ahead with their threat, official sources said.
