Ahmed Ali Fayyaz JAMMU, Mar 23: Even as Special Judge anticorruption in Srinagar has directed State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) to proceed with an inquiry into allegations of unfair means in recent selection of Assistant Veterinary Surgeons, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today assured Legislative Assembly that he would personally speak to Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) to set the system right. Chief Minister was responding to CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami’s impression that jobs were on sale in the PSC. Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 23: Three persons, including a junior engineer of PHE department and a contractor, were today sent to five days police remand for allegedly indulging in black marketing of government cement. 180 cement bags of PHE department were yesterday seized by police from the house of Nirmal Singh in Satwari area. JAMMU, Mar 23: A narcotic smuggler was today arrested by police at Tungli Gali in Gool, Ramban, along 900 grams of charas worth Rs 4 cr in the international market. The accused was identified as Abdul Hamid Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Gool.SP, Ramban, Anil Magotra said acting on a tip-off, police laid a naka at Tungli Gali and arrested Hamid along with 902 grams of heroin. Two moderate tremors felt in Kashmir Valley

Early Times Report SRINAGAR, March 23 : Two moderate intensity earthquakes were felt in the Kashmir Valley today within a span of three hours but there was no report of any casualty, an official said. The first tremor occurred at 9 AM with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter Scale with epicentre in Tajikistan in Central Asia, an official of Natural Disaster Management Cell said. The second tremor occurred at 11.25 AM with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter Scale with epicentre near the borders of China, he added.
